Maybe the best article in the series. Great work, Greg.
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
I’m going to go out on a limb and say that I feel the Lakers are a dark horse cadidate to trade for Kevin Huerer. Again, this is contigent on Keon Ellis and Monk holding down the three guard rotation with Fox.
The Lakers really don’t have solid three point shooting and floor spacers for LBJ and AD. What they do have is two 3/4 combo players that get lost in the shuffle in Rui and Vanderbilt. I could see a swap/package for either of those two in a Huerter deal that helps both teams rotations. Kings get length off the bench Keegan and DeMar and the Lakers get a shooter. I have no idea of this will ever happen but it’s a logical trade for both teams.
Rui or Vanderbilt. Whom do you see as the better fit for the Kings?
Also, does drafting Dalton Knecht influence the Lakers at all? Or more shooting the better
They are two different kinds of players. Vanderbilt is “known” as a defense first kind of wing, but is not a good shooter. I think of him as a poor man’s Herb Jones. Rui is more of an offensive threat, but not a great defender. I think of him as a poor man’s Kuzma. Your guess is as good as mine when if comes to better fit in the eyes of Monte. My personal opinion is go for defense because I think offense isn’t going to be hard to come by for this current roster.
Knecht is supposed to be that scoring threat off the bench for them, but he’s a rookie, so who knows. Huerter is a more proven win now kind of move that I could see the Lakers making by the deadline.
Vanderbilt would be my choice. Wing defense is needed on the roster.
I would be willing to speculate that after the Buddy Heild trade fiasco, that McNair/Welker are more than hesitant about doing any dealings with Rob Pelinka and the “Los Angeles area basketball team, not known as the Clippers”.
But who knows.
Just asking. Can Vanderbilt play small forward and then Lyles at power forward. Would that work?
The position you play is based on who you can guard. I think JV can play 3 or 4.
That line up might be weak offensively unless Kings play Monk and other scorers.
You know what I think I would leave the roster the way it is.
My choice would be Vanderbilt. We have the offense . Jared would provide really good defense off the bench but also as a starter when we need a defender who can come in a stop an offensive player who is hot. Very high motor and high agility. Also good rebounder. Not much of an offensive player but that’s not why we could use him. Defense.
As Editor in Chief of the Kings Herald, I can’t believe you posted a curse word in an article. In the future please opt for different words, such as “Los Angeles area basketball team”
Right! Redact it now!
yeah, right
The Lakers deserve a Cubs-like drought after the way they allowed Jerry West to be portrayed in the HBO series Winning Time.
That was evil.
This headline needs to be redacted
I clicked the link hoping to see three words. Nuf said.
Pithy, but obtuse.
