Of course ESPN isn’t working on Xfinity
First round is on ABC
Ahh thx
Works on IOS Xfinity app
Whiskey poured, popcorn ready.
Who’s gonna show up tonight folks?! The Kings or the dreaded Kangz…
My money is on Cash Considerations…
KANGZ on tape-delay…..moves made tonight are going to look solid on paper and initially, but they’ll ultimately end up amounting to nothing. This franchise is truly cursed.
I’d open some booze, but it’s too hot for that. Will stick with canned ice tea.
Kangzzzz!
Just remember that whatever happens, we blew it.
Yep – expecting that to be the media narrative, regardless. Which I suppose is fair until we prove otherwise.
In Monte we Trust
Let’s go Monte!

Ignore Ranadive!
..
Chet Chet Chet
Let’s get on with it already. This ESPN presentation is downright embarrassing. What is this, a fashion show?
It’s a joke
ESPN is the worst thing to happen to sports since that batch of defective iron cups went out in 1966.
Chet falling to 4 I bet
Sochan in purple….Kangz are trading down!
I’m scared…
Adam Silver scares me.
Adam Silver is one of the few people who make me feel better about my own looks…lol.
Paolo is dressed like Prince, but is two feet taller.
I miss prince.
Murray or Ivey. Keep it simple.
shut up Silver. No one wants to listen to you. Let’s get it going.
What if 1 of the top 3 bigs drop?
Take them. Period.
We’re taking Ivey at four. How is his name pronounced?
IV.
Anyone want to commit to a name that the Kings will pass on, that will ultimately turn into the star of this draft?
Are we also doing this for the three teams ahead of them?
Not quite as fun, since blown draft picks feel like something the Kings have owned for the past 15 years, but sure, why not?
Jalen Duren
Woj..
Vegas doesn’t do hunches. Maybe we trade up if PB is first.
How hard does Monte get on the phone if Jabari falls to #3?
I figure that Houston still wants a big after the Wood trade.
Jalen Rose makes me wish I was deaf.
Confirmed. That shakes things up a tiny bit right at the top.
Can Woj let us watch the draft with suspense?
PB!
Kings have gotta be in a war room right now talking to OKC for Jabari. Have to.
what?
Ivey at two.
Man, I hope so. Then the Kings can just sit back and take whoever falls.
I hate Holmgren’s body. Hate it hate it hate it. So many Shawn Bradley vibes there…
So you’re into those Oliver Miller types, eh?
Nah, just prefer someone who doesn’t look like he’s going to shatter into a million pieces the moment he’s picked off a hard screen.
The body-positivity movement clearly only goes in one direction!
Zion is a movement?
Wof bomb, accurate. Paolo goes #1.
It was Vegas saying so that convinced me.
A bit of a surprise.
OMG Thunder pleeeaaaassseeee take Ivey
Either OKC, or someone trading with OKC to get Ivey. Probably the latter.
Jabari Smith may fall to 4?…
That seems unlikely, but it’d be great.
Woj has Chet #2…
I really like Paolo, but I think Jabari’s better. Depending on the price, moving up might be worthwhile.
Dang I was only hearing these rumors today.
Everyone is watching the draft. Thanks.
Honestly! Let’s flood the timeline with graphics about what’s already known.
In solidarity with the whole kings aesthetic I took the day off of work to watch this.
Jabari is in play if Houston passes!!
I could see Houston taking Ivey . Would be great for tbt Kings to have Jabari land in their lap
who Are the commentators on espn?
Steve Smith, Jalen Rose, and I don’t know the other 2
If we’re going to draft Ivey and that’s the whole offseason, McNair does not have a playoff mandate to keep his job. Adding Ivey (or Collins for Barnes plus drafting Ivey) is not going to make this a playoff team.
No way Houston passes on Smith. Just none.
Yep, seems like a great fit there as well.
Here we go…quick, what would it take to get Smith at #3?
They moved Wood to get a big. That’s the whole story, I think.
Not sure we have anything the Rockets need for that level of price.
Another NoShit bomb
Let’s keep those woj tweets coming in
So far 2 of the top 3 gone. Will get lucky and hear Ivey’s name next?
Ivey, Murray, or trade.
Trade up Monte for the love of God!!!
If he doesn’t, it’ll be because he didn’t want it bad enough. Typical.
I’d be willing to do Ivey, next year’s 1st, and a 24′ pick swap for Holmgren.
1140 says Jabari at 3, so does Woj
Jabari on phone with the Rockets now.
Does anyone have video on HOU’s draft room? are they on the phone rt now?
Here. We. Go.
IV @ 4
OK, here we go…
OK. Jabari to HOU. Now: Ivey, Murray, or punt?
Smith Jr looks classy. Wish we’d gotten him.
I got no problems with it
Has to be IV, unless Vivek gets his way.
And now…
CHAOS.
“A dozen tailors died making my jacket.”
Keegan. Vivek wins
Woohoo!
There’s a lot to appreciate and like about Keegan Murray, that’s the way I’d focus on it.
He’s a McNair-type player, full-stop.
Yep. You don’t have to squint and figure out how he may be able to help you. With Ivey, I think that was a real issue.
Mature, proven, versatile, two-way guys is a pretty practical type imho
Practical? Sure. Commonly practiced? Less so.
But how many of those types have the Kings drafted from 2007 until Haliburton? I feel like that’s been one of the biggest issues for this team over the 16-year drought – they fell in love with everything except the one thing they needed most.
You mean Tyrese Haliburton? McNair’s first draft selection?
Should have phrased it ‘from 2007 until McNair’s hire’. But yes, starting with the end of the Petrie era, through PDA, through Vlade, draft picks that were high-BBIQ, versatile, mature, two-way players were a rarity in Sacramento. McNair has been a clear shift into sanity in that regard.
With three first-round picks behind him now, the selections of Haliburton, Mitchell and Murray have been rock solid and, on their own, (given a full rebuild instead of the path McNair was largely forced into) would have been a really nice trio to build around.
Welcome!
About 3 weeks ago I figured out that we were gonna take Murray and I’m so stoked about this pick. I don’t see this as vivek’s pick at all. This pick shares so many similar characteristics with both Hali and Davion. Monte picks mature players with high character, high IQ, grinders who are team players and who also have developed at least one skill at a high level that will translate to the NBA.
Who would’ve guessed? He had dinner with the Kings and Ivey never spoke with them
Well now I gotta talk myself into thinking Keegan can get his shot off against real athleticism and length. Color me meh. Hoping for a trade now to save the night. Otherwise, eh.
Lots of night left to go. Holmes or Barnes may still be traded yet
We can only hope.
KEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEG
Looks like he means business.
Kinda feel like the kings were always taking Murray. If it’s who they think they need? I dunno, fire the jerks after this team’s sucks.
Fuuuuuuuck.
We got Vivek’d.
Yes, Ranadive really pressured McNair to take a prototypical McNair player.
Hali and Mitchell: High BBIQ, unselfish, hard-working, high-character, NBA-ready skills, elite college production. Murray checks all these boxes. Monte has a type, and Murray is it.
Fuck you Kings you worthless pile of shit organization! I fucking hate this team with a passion.
Wow
See you tomorrow!
Damn…
Byeee
Glad to go this team is a fucking wreck. This team cannot get out of their own way. Fuck the Kings
Genuinely curious…your intense reaction suggests that the Kings just took Papagiannis over a future All-Star. If the choice had been that egregious I could totally see the reaction. But Ivey and Murray are close enough today that I’ve yet to hear a single talking head at multiple networks blast them for the pick.
I totally get personal preferences. But as of right now at least, this isn’t Sam Bowie vs. Michael Jordan.
I mean come on man. It was really a 50/50 between Murray and Ivey. If either of them were inevitably going to be a star they wouldn’t have been taken #4.
It’s a thing. Who would another small NBA franchise from San Antonio have taken if they were at 4?
If the Spurs are your standard, it was reported yesterday that they were trying to trade up for Murray…who knows if true
The Spurs are a context and a standard and my opinion has nothing to do with it. The Kings could’ve traded Keegan for Sochan and?
I was just pointing out that if you were wondering who the Spurs would choose between Ivey and Murray, they were reported to like Murray more.
Thank you.
Like I said below, if Murray is the whole offseason (outside of bench tinkering), McNair has no playoff mandate to do his job. Would not have been any different if it had been Ivey.
Are you under the impression that this is all that happens in the offseason, or is “if” jut doing a ton of work?
I’m sorry you don’t understand what “if” means.
So, just no response then?
https://letmegooglethat.com/?q=What+does+if+mean
Is that what you expect to happen, or not? Don’t overthink it.
It’s a pretty simple statement. You’ll figure it out or you won’t. My money’s on won’t, but I like to be surprised.
Concur as to how incredibly simple it is.
I hate Vivek. Wish the team would have moved. Fuck them
Gonna invite you to jump up and kiss our collective ass.
fuck you to! You’re a Kings homer and go with whatever your precious fuck ups do.
Yup usually those who correct grammar already lost the argument so kiss my ass bitch!
I’d just like to point out that you two do seem to agree on inviting the other to kiss some ass. I’d like to commend your willingness to meet in the middle. So to speak.
U2 the Irish band? I’m really getting confused here.
Yeah, that’s gotta be it.
I was going to say, you’ll be missed, but you won’t go anywhere, and you wouldn’t be missed.
What was the argument?
It’s 2 idiot! not to.
purpled
Murray. Great! Welcome to Sacramento.
He looks SOFTTTT
Hope I’m wrong
Yeah, I hate this. Based on his: clothing, face, gigantic body, smile, hair, or something else?
I mean on the other hand drafting Ivey wouldn’t have made sense. We’d have the same holes and problems as last year. Kings obviously think Fox and sabs can lead this team to the promise land
Do you have it on good authority that there will be no more acquisitions before the season begins four months from now?
I mean looking back at past history, no they won’t acquire somebody that will make a difference
Looking back at past history……………………
Yes, history repeats itself here in sac
We traded the wrong player last year should’ve kept Hali. Fox will not take us anywhere.
You had to have someone willing to take on that contract. The mistake wasn’t in not trading Fox. The mistake was signing him to a max contract.
naw
Timely take
He’s still angry about JFK getting shot.
Tim Duncan looked soft too. Just sayin’….
My head said Ivey, my heart said Murray. I won’t lie…I’m kinda happy. I don’t like Ivey as much.
Yes! Welcome to Sacramento Keegan!
Would this fall into the drafting for fit over BPA category?
No.
Inclined to agree with you. I like Keegan. I think he was BPA. Also for their need
I wanted this guy the moment we got the fourth pick. He is the best fit and the BPA.
The right pick. He’s gonna be good. High caliber player with the right attitude that does exactly what the Kings need.
Agree with this statement.
We need wings.
Would love Wendell Moore at #37 if he falls. Otherwise Andrew Nembhard or Jaylin Williams seem like practical role players to pick up in the 2nd Rd.
What flavor?
We need wings and rings. Buffalo and onion or the other ones are good too.
Agree with this. With so much talk about ‘BPA’, I’ve landed on the idea that while Ivey was the best ATHLETE available, Murray was the best player available ‘right now’.
In 4 years? Maybe a different discussion. For a team that’s trying to win sooner rather than later? Though it can (and will be) argued, I think this was the right choice for this team at this time.
But you couldn’t work a trade down with Detroit for anything on their roster?
It would’ve required us to be willing to pick Ivey when the time came. Clearly we liked Murray more than risk not having him. Detroit called the bluff. They got their guy at no extra cost.
You still have to have a willing trade partner who truly doesn’t know what you’re going to do, and while the Kings are doing a slightly better job at plugging leaks under McNair, the preference for Murray still leaked out anyway. If you really like Murray, you take him and don’t risk it – especially considering Murray wasn’t much of a reach (if any) at 4.
Richie 88 has been very consistent along somewhat of the same lines re Ivey, athletic but overrated in short.
Yup your right a great role player in the mold of Barnes. Great option at 4 lol
Welcome young man! Nice threads.
Disgusting. Couldn’t get Killian Hayes and the fifth? The Milwaukee 2025 first and the fifth? Any player from Detroit and a swap wasn’t possible?
If you’re sour because we didn’t get Killian Farking Hayes, I’m afraid that you may never be happy.
Andy_sims, we’re kings fans. We’re never happy. Glad you’re having a good night though. 🙂
I don’t know, there’s nothing stopping a masochist from being happy.
Hayes is a former sure thing pick at 5 that is a total bust . Good grief .
–>This means Keegan is going to bust and Ivey is going to be a star!
Or they finally picked the right one.
cue this time for sure gif…
See you later suckers
Trust the Monte McProcess
I want my Keegan jersey. Welcome to Sacramento.
Now the draft craziness begins.
Wow, Big Benn at 6!
Okay y’all. I’m passing out. Good night and go Kings! 🙂
My daughter’s roommate knows Mathurin very well.
Can she play SF?
am I doing this right?..
She can play with a SF.
I like it!
Detroit must be re-signing MB3 after trading Grant to Portland. A whole season with Marvin’s team. Goodness.
Benn was the guy that, as the draft got closer and the hype started to die down around prospects, just clearly seemed like the obvious BPA after Murray/Ivey
Murray kinda reminds me of Haliburton when we drafted him. extremely solid all around, can contribute right away. I’m a bit worried about his upside at the #4 spot but his floor seems quite high.
Probably a solid pro for 10 years and that’s a plus.
Unfortunately Ivey, Sharpe and Mathurin will all comfortably better players, and obviously so by year 3.
Kings will never, ever win a playoff series with Fox on the roster. Lost opportunity for an impact draft pick.
That part in Goodfellas where the restaurant owner who threw in his lot with the mob is the appropriate gif here. A fucking shame.
Or….Ivey turns into Fox…at best, and Murray turns into Siakam….at worst. There’s just never any way to be 100% sure. That what makes this fun….and infuriating.
Ivey has a lot of developing to do to even reach Fox’s level. But that would be a very good outcome for a 4-5 pick. Fox is already an above acaréate outcome for that draft slot. And I’m not even a big Fox fan.
I don’t have a massive argument to make here, but I would expect a #5 pick to reach All-Star status at least once in his career, and Fox needs to make one more jump to reach that level (admittedly, a jump that he appeared to make with the arrival of Sabonis, SSS considered).
I think I’m responding more to the idea shared by a couple here that taking Murray over Ivey was a mistake of Kangzian proportions.
Which I mean….maybe in 4 years it will look that way, but maybe it won’t. Bottom line is, it’s not 100% clear as we sit here today.
Either way, this isn’t a Papagiannis situation, where the pick was immediately met with laughter by everyone with half a brain.
I think Murray was definitely the BPA at #4. Ivey doesn’t have enough skills, Mathurin needs to work on his defense & Sharpe’s too risky.
Totally agree!
Big swing by the Blaze, assuming they keep him.
He could do worse than to learn under Dame. I hope he ends up being amazing.
I’m surprised Portland could get him and they decided to. His upside seems off the charts. I always root for Portland. I hope he ends up being a star as well.
Grant, Sharpe and Dame… seems like an odd pairing to me.
Why? I mean, putting aside the fact that Sharpe is probably at least a couple seasons from being ready for a big role. But the theoretical fit makes sense.
Unsure – Portland seemed to want to re-tool to win asap. I guess I don’t see where this combo of players takes them. I like Sharpe, think he can be an all-star. But his timeline, a prime Grant and Lillard on the back 9 just don’t seem to fit in my eyes.
I thought Daniels would have been a good fit there, with his length and playmaking.
I suspect the Blazers just got Catfished by a dude flexing on YouTube
Spurs pick at 9 should be interesting. They seem to evaluate talent well.
I bet it’s either Dieng or Sochan – the spursiest picks.
Nice call!
Daniels is a good pick for them. Big,versatile wing that can potentially space the floor for Zion, playmake, and play defense. Really feel like he’ll be a high level role player for a long time.
Definitely, he’d have been one to target had the Kings traded down. It’s not hard to imagine him succeeding.
And they have plenty of shot takers with Zion, CJ, and Ingram.
What am I getting from Duren in the lottery that I don’t get from Walker Kessler or Jaylin Williams in the early 2nd?
So has there been any trades yet? In draft trades?
None yet
Yea seems eerily quiet overall on the trade front
Nice picks by Pels and Spurs. Daniels and Sochan were 5 & 6 on my board, respectively. Murray was top 4
Agreed. The Pels have a lot going on and it’s not Zion… ironically.
Post-Beal era begins?
I guess if there’s one draft-day guarantee, it is that Knicks fans will hate whomever their team picks…
Stephen A reaction ????????
This is KP all over again. Knicks are gonna love this guy in 2 years.
Then he gets hurt and stops playing NBA basketball but gets payed millions? Got it!
Dieng traded to OKC! Then they pick Jalen Williams. Holmgren, Dieng, Williams, Giddey, Shai is an interesting lineup…would’ve expected Duren or Mark Williams there.
I could see AJ Griffin, Agbaji, or Duren here for Charlotte
Good call…
WAIT!!
Cade, Ivey, Bey, Duren, Stewart and Hayes is a good start on a rebuild.
I wonder if Kemba Walker will get a buy-out
Good for him, he still wants to play. I bet he ends up in LA.
i think Johnny Davis and Jalen Williams were good picks at those spots.
Don’t love the fit for either, but neither player will bust. A clearly defined role as two-way role players. Like em both.
They picked BOTH centers???
Yeah, that threw me, too, but Duren is going to the Knicks.
AJ Griffin just seems like the most ATL pick ever.. won’t be surprised when he’s traded to Brooklyn in 1.5 seasons.
Dalen Terry. Damn, that’s way before I thought he would go. Nice pick.
The NBA seems to be all about getting as many 6’7″+ dudes with ball skills as you can get. We got one of the few that are polished products, though. That’s a good night.
Add more shooting in the 2nd rd, Hyunjung Lee, Tevin Brown, Orlando Robinson, Isaiah Mobley!
Spurs got a few players. Roddy and Dalen Terry off the board. Who’s our 2nd round pick?
BHE’s guy Jovic is still out there.
The 76ers sent:
No. 23 pick and Danny Green
The Grizz sent:
DeAnthony Melton
that means Roddy goes to Memphis? Not surprising.
Jaden Hardy, E.J. Liddell, Nikola Jovic, Kendall Brown, Caleb Houstan, Josh Minott, Bryce McGowens are all still available
Jovic gone at 25 to Spurs
Also Koloko, Keels, and another BHE guy Alondes Williams, who are we forgetting?
Koloko gone at 33 to Raptors
Looks like we’ll get one of Liddell, McGowens, Houstan, Brown, or Chandler. Hoping others pick Koloko and Hardy. Worst case scenario I like Williams and Nembhard.
Nembhard just went to Pacers at 31.
Indy is still collecting G’s. They have to move Brogdan or they won’t be able to develop any of these young guards (Hali, Duarte, Mathurin, & Nembhard)
And Buddy Hield
Buddy’s 56yrs old, he’ll end up on the Clips or something.
Houstan gone to Magic at 32
I love TKH and not just because it’s so wonky.
Sure wish the kings packaged 37 and 49 for 32-34 and used it for Koloko. Maybe they get him anyway.
I have to say, the ABC coverage was entertaining for no other reason than watching Stephen A. Smith meltdown over the Knicks completely ignoring the draft.
You gotta admit, going by name alone, if Kangz can get Max Christie, that would be a Kangz name.
Add more shooting in the 2nd rd, Hyunjung Lee, Tevin Brown, Orlando Robinson, Isaiah Mobley!
please pick Liddell holy shit
he still out there. Not bad …
Hardy going to Dallas…
For what?
I don’t know?
Two future 2nd rounders…I think they are concerned about roster size and weren’t really interested in actually using their 2nd round picks this year.
I think the Kings may regret not taking Liddell here. Not a huge issue, but we’ll see.
I was hoping for Kendall brown, but maybe he goes undrafted at this point.
Two future seconds.
Thank you!
This sight is breaking down and not in the good way.
TFW trading the 2nd pick is what makes me say F this team tonight. Shit, I would have liked to stop watching this a while ago. Thanks Kangz.
Missing out on Chandler/McGowens/Liddell is just a real blown opportunity
Cavs got Isaiah Mobley with the 49! That guy was on my short list
The Kees to succes has been………..
