Kings vs. Warriors Preseason Game 3: Ben Simmons Makes His Kings Debut

The Kings are back in preseason action.

After two lackluster preseason games against the Lakers, the Kings will have another opportunity to show us what they’re made of tonight against a different but familiar opponent: the Warriors.

Who: Sacramento Kings @ Golden State Warriors
Where: Chase Center, San Francisco, CA
When: 5:30 PM PT / 8:30 PM ET
Watch: League Pass, possibly other methods

Despite reports from NBA insider Marc Spears that Ben Simmons would be making his Kings debut against the Lakers on Thursday, that plan was apparently scrapped, and he didn’t play. Well, according to KCRA news reporter Sean Cunningham, tonight is the night. Ben Simmons is active and playing. Probably.

How many other Kings decide to show up remains to be seen.

Prediction: Kings 118, Warriors 109.

Both teams have rested key starters
While they looked to replace their departers.
Soon things will get real;
Sure wish we could feel
DC somehow becomes much smarter!

I fear we may have lost Max Raynaud for a good chunk of time. Watching clips of that injury did not look good. At first it looked like he banged knees with Steph, but from other angles it was looking like a non-contact injury to his knee.

EDIT: Upon looking, Acuff may have actually banged knees with him.

Simmons looked really good- meaning agressive with his shot.

I think there’s a very good chance that he is going to be good because I think he’s over the mental hurdles (we will see) and physically well. I think he could be a piece.

Regardless, it will be fun watching him and a cuff and Keegan if he can fucking hit the three ball again.

Kings might’ve gotten extraordinarily lucky with Simmons and those three make up a pretty solid trio to start building around and with

And…. Simmons is exactly the type of player you want to take a chance on. Not guys like Jonathan Kuminga.

Wherever Hunter is on the depth chart now, has Sharp overtaken him?

If Hunter goesn’t make it this year he will be a free agent next year worth about 25 mil. along with Lavine’s 49 mil. Perry should be able to get a player or two to help the Kings. Young players not old players.
Max is one of my favorite players and it doesn’t look good but let’s wait and see before we go completely negative. Max you are in my prayers.
I like what I see from Simmons.
So far IMO Acuff is the real deal. The Kings really need that.
Lastly because Lavine is here for just this year IMO I wouldn’t start him but play both Clifford and Sharpe in his place. Together the Kings have 2 real deals. Play them.

I wish there was a world in which Scooter P had the interest and ability to have pulled Acuff and Lendeborg. I might’ve actually have become a Scooter P fan this season. Yaxel is going to be a very good player, the only question is for how long. Oh, yeah; Acuff’s pretty good too. Will be fun to watch the two of them in the rookie game.

In other news, the lack of broadcast is just pre-season, right? Right? They haven’t been relegated to “Blacked Out in Your Area” for the entire country already, have they?

I had that happen to me in high school while playing soccer. Knee cap hurt like hell. IIRC, I missed a good 6 weeks. Doctor told me if I did sports on it too soon I risked a full dislocation. Took a while to get the confidence to run and cut again.

Even 6 weeks would be much better than I initially feared.

I might suggest a 7 footer who participates in significantly more stressful actions may need more time.

Ben looked decent. Start him at the 2. Sharp backs him up. Bench Lavine. No flow on offense when he’s in there playing ISO ball and his defense…….Once Domas is in there they should have a nice pick and roll game.

I think Simmons can play multiple positions but not the 2. I would rather have Clifford starting and Sharpe backing him up or when someone like Curry plays then put Sharpe on him. IMO Lavine is your third choice at the 3. He is not in the rebuilt process so play and only one year. Not worth starting.

That’d work! I guess Ben is bigger than he used to be. I like Sharpe a lot!I Wonder if Plowden might be effective on the defensive end for a 2.
