Haliburton already making a difference as soon as he steps on the court. Good cuts drawing defense in and getting Buddy open, the tie up on Looney so Holmes had a chance to recover and block the shot, saving a bad pass… Kings back in the game.
I love Fox, let me get that straight first. I’m not a part of the trade Fox crowd, but his defense is the most frustrating part for me. I was strictly throwing shade because this is year 4 and he should be better.
We can still criticize and not be a part of the “trade Fox” crowd who live to trash him now. I just don’t want to see him continue to lose Steph on the 3 point line and for what it’s worth, get torched by Lillard last week as well. He has all the tools defensively, so it’s frustrating to see.
That was much better playmaking than I expected from a Guy/Buddy/GR3/Bagley/Holmes lineup. Please don’t put that lineup on the court for any game that counts, though.
They gave that lineup way more run than I was expecting and it kind of worked? I guess ?when you have no natural distributor on the court they are just going to have to figure it out?
Side note: As a Patriots fan I gotta say congrats to your Bills this year. They look good. I expect they will at least make it to the AFC championship game.
Most of the defenders they’re putting on him look pretty small. If you have him playing the 4 being guarded by a wing-type, that should be a big advantage. Seems like he’s been effective with his touches so far today.
I was annoyed at Holmes on a couple of those for standing under the basket and crowding the paint while Bagley is trying to work in the post.
Its Walton’s offense. He doesn’t run any PnRs, its all basket-facing high post offense.
He’s attempting to pull the PF/Cs away from the basket to give more space for cuts and drives but the ball spends so much time in the hands of players that are finishers, not facilitators that it simply doesn’t work.
This is probably experimental, at least I hope it is, but it’s Walton so that’s why I’m concerned. If they wanna do this, then that’s where Bjelly can play.
I don’t know if he can defend well enough to be more than an 8th-man sparkplug type but it looks like he might be able fill that role really, really well
Yeah. Plain to see that the offense AND defense are much more effective with Haliburton on and not CoJo. Hali should be the primary backup at either guard position, until he becomes the SG after the trade deadline.
It would be a miracle if the Kings made the playoffs but I am already convinced that it will be more fun to watch the Kings play this year. Buddy will have a bounce-back year, the pace is going to be fast, and Hali is already one of my favorite players to watch on the team.
Yeah, I think the next big step forward for the team is getting a rim-protecting big who is much more mobile than Whiteside. It would have been nice to get Myles Turner.
WCS badly dislocated the index finger on his right hand attempting to block a shot during his rookie season. He became hesitant to take a full swing for a block anywhere near the rim after that.
Fox’s jumper is a mechanical problem. He gets no legs on spot ups, and his release isn’t consistent enough for pull ups. Just observations from watching every game. Something needs to change.
I’ve said it like twenty times, he doesn’t fully extend his shooting arm which leads to inconsistency… Super easy fix, so frustrating to see it never change
Hard to make sense of this game. Hield looks like he can get the KIngs a first round pick based on his play tonite. Fox is aggressive. But, still no semblance of an outside shot. Bagley looks good, as well. Dubs are rolling out a number of players I have never heard of the majority of the first half. Dubs look pretty bad, outside of Curry. I know they’re missing Draymond and Wiseman. But, GS looks like they’re headed to another lottery pick with this team.
Kayte to co-host in pregame;
This is something you need to understand.
AND WE’RE BACK!
Game day baby!
Watching on Comcast Sports or TNT?
Comcast. New guy is really good.
Curry doesn’t realize he should be ducking Fox.
Why are they running the half court offense through Holmes?
It’s working great if you’re a turnover aficionado.
Agreed. Holmes not awake yet
Walton.
Since the 1st game under him, we’ve run a high-post offense where the ball sits in our worst playmakers hands the majority of the clock.
He’s playing the Whiteside role for now until he gets healthy.
Buddy showed Luke he couldn’t handle it last year, so Luke is trying out a new PG.
Holmes has been pretty bad early on. I am not sure if they should be running the half-court through him this much.
Love what I see from Halliburton on defense once again.
Maybe Halliburton is the antidote we need for Buddy’s passing disability.
we’re a couple of games away from me trying to change my nickname to TradeFox
Just change it now. You already want to anyways
we’re a game away from me changing my nickname to bowchickawowwow
Just change it now. You already want to anyways
Trying a slow half court offense tonight…could be a tough watch
Please tell me this isn’t going to be the offense we run this season.
TRADE FOX!!!!
No.
Haliburton already making a difference as soon as he steps on the court. Good cuts drawing defense in and getting Buddy open, the tie up on Looney so Holmes had a chance to recover and block the shot, saving a bad pass… Kings back in the game.
these were all great little plays in between the stats, none of those will be recorded for Hali
Whiteside is my least favorite player. ð
He really looks awful. I’d say he’s lumbering around but that makes it sound like he’s moving with more speed and effort than he actually is.
Am I watching a different basketball game? Whiteside has done some good shit IMO.
His first couple of minutes were pretty rough.
But overall he’s been productive
He got better.
he could put up 20/10 every night and I’m still rolling with
I just don’t get the hate
Its not personal, nor is it hate…its the plodding style of play that I dislike so much, plus I like every other player on the roster more.
Just absolute haters
Good to see Whiteside is already in prime mid-season form of playing lazy and disinterested.
Did he just fumble that pass off his head?
That’s part of his charm!
twice already he’s watched a ball roll by his feet without even trying to get it
UGLY offense. Kings take contested shots. Opponents take open shots. Same old shit.
I love this high key big man passing offense. Can’t wait for Harry Giles to get a chance to finally shine
Too soon
This is how I cope lol
I am still gonna wait and see if Harry is putting up big numbers and getting playing time during the season before I get too upset.
I’m still not expecting a lot from Harry, so this is just residual Vlade anger, though I hope Harry finds success eventually.
Haliburton is already a better defender than Fox
I have a new favorite King!
not sure why you have to put the shade on fox here but ok
I love Fox, let me get that straight first. I’m not a part of the trade Fox crowd, but his defense is the most frustrating part for me. I was strictly throwing shade because this is year 4 and he should be better.
Understood
I agree. I expected Fox to be a better defender at this point.
How does he manage to be in every single passing lane at once?
The IQ is real. He’s gonna be a stud.
Fox has 9 pts in the first quarter after two bad preseason games and yall still trashing him smh this is why we can’t have nice things
We can still criticize and not be a part of the “trade Fox” crowd who live to trash him now. I just don’t want to see him continue to lose Steph on the 3 point line and for what it’s worth, get torched by Lillard last week as well. He has all the tools defensively, so it’s frustrating to see.
My middle name is walker so ð¤ð¤
Ty needs to start if we are trying to win
put Buddy at sf if need be
I am not sure if he needs to start but Hali needs to be getting 30 mins a game
Well this is fun!
That was much better playmaking than I expected from a Guy/Buddy/GR3/Bagley/Holmes lineup. Please don’t put that lineup on the court for any game that counts, though.
A Buddy/Guy backcourt has a chance for some nice tempo
Yeah, they played fairly well together. It just seems like everyone in that lineup is the guy you want finishing the play, not the one initiating it.
They gave that lineup way more run than I was expecting and it kind of worked? I guess ?when you have no natural distributor on the court they are just going to have to figure it out?
Kyle Guy has been doing some curls this off-season! Think he will get any run this season?
I’m so happy we get buff guy
BH Bagley
Nice little run going on. What if we don’t suck this year?
Blasphemy!
Side note: As a Patriots fan I gotta say congrats to your Bills this year. They look good. I expect they will at least make it to the AFC championship game.
Thanks! Certainly hope so. The Chiefs are going to be real tough to get past though – everyone else I think they might actually be favored against.
This is so weird.
Rooting for the Bills. As a Niner fan, I hate the Chiefs and I’m a fan of perennial underdogs making noise. My AFC rooting interests in order.
1) Bills definitely have the best shot to dethrone
2) Browns
3) Dolphins
Kyle Guy needs to take better shots
Want to see Bagley kick it out sometimes. Offense has stalled when it hits his hand. Lots of post ups
Man Holmes can’t pass
The FT shooting is just brutal
Mid-season form.
So Holmes and Whiteside are actively looking to pass at the high key. That means that it’s a part of the game plan. BUT WHY?
Its Walton’s offense. He doesn’t run any PnRs, its all basket-facing high post offense.
He’s attempting to pull the PF/Cs away from the basket to give more space for cuts and drives but the ball spends so much time in the hands of players that are finishers, not facilitators that it simply doesn’t work.
This is probably experimental, at least I hope it is, but it’s Walton so that’s why I’m concerned. If they wanna do this, then that’s where Bjelly can play.
How Kyle Guy can become an NBA role player:
GIVE HIM THE GREEN LIGHT FROM DEEP
He is definitely confident in his shot
Oh my.
I don’t know if he can defend well enough to be more than an 8th-man sparkplug type but it looks like he might be able fill that role really, really well
8th man is where he belongs. And that’s not a bad thing if he shoots like that
Loving not seeing CoJo!
Yeah. Plain to see that the offense AND defense are much more effective with Haliburton on and not CoJo. Hali should be the primary backup at either guard position, until he becomes the SG after the trade deadline.
Bagley tried to pass the first time he got the ball! Winning..he looks to be playing within himself..
Guy has a pretty shot..
I just changed from TNT to Comcast.. tNT was horrendous
Main thing I want to see from Bagley is him crashing the fuck out of the rebounds on both ends
the new announcer is refreshing, I like him quite a bit so far.
I think you can play guy when whiteside is on D, I think it’ll help with his defensive deficiency
Put some respect on Whiteside’s name HAAAA
Hot take!! Whiteside is not lazy he is just slow as shit and it looks lazy
If Whiteside had to bring the ball up from the baseline undefended he might get a 10 second violation
his spirit animal is a sloth
I’m sorry, but you can’t tell me all of whiteside’s stats are empty calories.
I think people can’t stand how slow he looks. If any team goes 5 out vs him Whiteside can’t play any kind of D.
Like him or not Whiteside will help the Kings. We really needed a rebounder and shot blocker.
The instant the other team goes small he needs to come off the court, though.
Yeah that is for sure
Yeah, I am glad we have him. Rebounds and rim protection for days.
It’s strange that Fox, as fast as he is, can’t stay with Curry.
Fast has a lot of dimensions to it.
Fox is fast, Curry is quick
Fox is fast, but not shifty. That’s why he struggles on D and on O in the half court but succeeds in transition.
Like a lanky outside 4.3 corner, being asked to play in the slot.
Really starting to like Whiteside in his 2nd stint. Really protects the paint and can run the “fast” break.
It’s amazing what a difference a shot blocking rebounder can make!
I was too young to remember Keon Clark play so this is a revelation seeing an actual shot blocker on the team.
Had we drafted Steph Curry instead of Evans, Then we would’ve never had to of complained about passing on Doncic
Curry just full-on two-hand shoved Looney into Bjelly for the foul
he didn’t want to make it personal
I’m glad they’re not asking buddy to initiate the offense this year
Definitely not in the pick n roll, but it seems Walton has simplified the offense.
“Drive and memorize where your shooters are, wing or corner and throw it there.”
Buddy has made some nice passes these past few games in this sense.
So who had the Kings up by 15 at the half??
It would be a miracle if the Kings made the playoffs but I am already convinced that it will be more fun to watch the Kings play this year. Buddy will have a bounce-back year, the pace is going to be fast, and Hali is already one of my favorite players to watch on the team.
I have a lot of moments watching this team where I go: Why CAN’T these guys be good?
I also have a lot of moments where I go: Oh, right.
Yeah, I think the next big step forward for the team is getting a rim-protecting big who is much more mobile than Whiteside. It would have been nice to get Myles Turner.
But we selected WCS. I loved Myles Turner in that draft. Thought he was a way better fit with Cousins.
But Kentucky.
Crazy that WCS was so bad at rim protection. Dude is a head case
The weirdest part was that he was a good rim protector in college!
grown men vs collegiate athletes i guess
WCS badly dislocated the index finger on his right hand attempting to block a shot during his rookie season. He became hesitant to take a full swing for a block anywhere near the rim after that.
not too late
Fingers Crossed for him or another similar player.
Kings shoot 54% in the first half. Love the effort and vibe the team is showing last 2 games.
Our bigs have 9 of our 12 TOs. Holmes with 5 big ones
Holmes has looked bad on the passing side in all three of the preseason games. I hope he does not do much of that in the season.
I like that he’s trying to expand his game. That’s what the preseason is for.
Lol on the travel
Crash those boards Bags!!!
Buddy is certainly strong enough to defend SF…
Hali seems to always have a passing lane.
Not every NBA player can find that lane with a big. More evidence that he’s a stud
Did I just hear the announcer said Hield didn’t complain about coming off the bench last season?!
Yep, you sure did. Grant Hill emphatically complimented his professionalism on national television (facepalm emoji).
Fox’s jumper is a mechanical problem. He gets no legs on spot ups, and his release isn’t consistent enough for pull ups. Just observations from watching every game. Something needs to change.
Nonchalant ass jumper
His free throws bug me the most. Great shooters can refind their stroke when having a bad game at the line.
Fox is even more nonchalant at the line.
I’ve said it like twenty times, he doesn’t fully extend his shooting arm which leads to inconsistency… Super easy fix, so frustrating to see it never change
Yes more of this Holmes and less passing Holmes
Hard to make sense of this game. Hield looks like he can get the KIngs a first round pick based on his play tonite. Fox is aggressive. But, still no semblance of an outside shot. Bagley looks good, as well. Dubs are rolling out a number of players I have never heard of the majority of the first half. Dubs look pretty bad, outside of Curry. I know they’re missing Draymond and Wiseman. But, GS looks like they’re headed to another lottery pick with this team.
They are really missing Klay. Not sure what to think about this team without him but Curry might win another MVP.
How in the hell did we get Hali at 12??
He would fit in on any team and you c
