Haliburton already making a difference as soon as he steps on the court. Good cuts drawing defense in and getting Buddy open, the tie up on Looney so Holmes had a chance to recover and block the shot, saving a bad pass… Kings back in the game.
these were all great little plays in between the stats, none of those will be recorded for Hali

He really looks awful. I’d say he’s lumbering around but that makes it sound like he’s moving with more speed and effort than he actually is.

I love Fox, let me get that straight first. I’m not a part of the trade Fox crowd, but his defense is the most frustrating part for me. I was strictly throwing shade because this is year 4 and he should be better.

Yeah, they played fairly well together. It just seems like everyone in that lineup is the guy you want finishing the play, not the one initiating it.
They gave that lineup way more run than I was expecting and it kind of worked? I guess ?when you have no natural distributor on the court they are just going to have to figure it out?

Most of the defenders they’re putting on him look pretty small. If you have him playing the 4 being guarded by a wing-type, that should be a big advantage. Seems like he’s been effective with his touches so far today.
I was annoyed at Holmes on a couple of those for standing under the basket and crowding the paint while Bagley is trying to work in the post.

So Holmes and Whiteside are actively looking to pass at the high key. That means that it’s a part of the game plan. BUT WHY?
Its Walton’s offense. He doesn’t run any PnRs, its all basket-facing high post offense.
He’s attempting to pull the PF/Cs away from the basket to give more space for cuts and drives but the ball spends so much time in the hands of players that are finishers, not facilitators that it simply doesn’t work.
This is probably experimental, at least I hope it is, but it’s Walton so that’s why I’m concerned. If they wanna do this, then that’s where Bjelly can play.

It would be a miracle if the Kings made the playoffs but I am already convinced that it will be more fun to watch the Kings play this year. Buddy will have a bounce-back year, the pace is going to be fast, and Hali is already one of my favorite players to watch on the team.

Yeah, I think the next big step forward for the team is getting a rim-protecting big who is much more mobile than Whiteside. It would have been nice to get Myles Turner.

WCS badly dislocated the index finger on his right hand attempting to block a shot during his rookie season. He became hesitant to take a full swing for a block anywhere near the rim after that.

Fox’s jumper is a mechanical problem. He gets no legs on spot ups, and his release isn’t consistent enough for pull ups. Just observations from watching every game. Something needs to change.

Hard to make sense of this game. Hield looks like he can get the KIngs a first round pick based on his play tonite. Fox is aggressive. But, still no semblance of an outside shot. Bagley looks good, as well. Dubs are rolling out a number of players I have never heard of the majority of the first half. Dubs look pretty bad, outside of Curry. I know they’re missing Draymond and Wiseman. But, GS looks like they’re headed to another lottery pick with this team.
They are really missing Klay. Not sure what to think about this team without him but Curry might win another MVP.

Ever. Sure, there will be nights when he’s hitting them. But, most teams will sag off him. He’s no threat. if he’s not getting to the hole or getting to the line, Fox looks very average.
Yeah, I just don’t think he needs an outside shot to even be an All-Star. Wall and Westbrook did not need one. He is not as good as Westbrook but he might already be as good as Wall in his prime.
Fox couldn’t hold Westbrook’s Jock. No disrespect. Westbrook is a first ballot HOF. Not a champion. But, Westbrook is next level. A triple double machine for multiple years. Fox will have to lead the Kings to a playoff before he’s mentioned in the same breath as Wall.

He seemed to approach the whole game like a national broadcast. I think he’ll loosen up a bit as the season rolls along and he gets to know everyone.
I thought he did well right off the bat. He even knew not to bring up that team down south.
I heard that, kind of chuckled. Christy must’ve shown him the picture of Rick Fox getting an uppercut and said this could BU if you bring up the redacted
Don’t get me wrong. He did very well. Very professional. Provided insight into specific players and I thought he helped Christie along as well. Just saying he’s not had a chance to get the nuances and learn the program from the inside.
Happy for Guy, that was not an easy shot! Bjelica on the other hand, looks lost and old so far, like this pace is not congruent to his game, and Woodard still looks very green. Whiteside did his thing and seems to have a good repoir with the guys.
I don’t want to get too excited for pre-season but this team looks fun and easy to root for!

My preseason thoughts for how the season will play out. Maybe Harden gets traded and the Rockets fall. Maybe I’m overrating the Suns, but I like the CP addition.
We could sneak into the last play in spot for sure, or we could finish 13th. I don’t think the records will be all that different between those teams, just like this past season.
I have a similar feeling. Unless Hield, Barnes, Holmes and/or Bjelly are all traded at the deadline, we still seem like a team that will be better than 4-6 teams in either conference. My feeling is were picking around 10-12 next draft as the roster currently stands and missing the playoffs AND a top pick in 2021 is probably the single worst outcome for this season imo.
Has to be nice feeling for Guy, hitting a shot like that at end of a game (preseason or not).
