I’ve always wondered why we don’t see more of this. The ball can move faster than human feet can, and if you keep moving it around at a high enough clip, you’re almost always going to find an open shot.
This has been a thing for many years. There were years when the Kingsz would be 5 out passing the ball around the perimiter and I always felt like the coach was emphasizing ball movement but none of the players really understood why they were doing it…….At least that’s the way it looked to me.
There’s a relaxed-ness to his shot too right now, partially from the reality of Domas creating space and getting him more open looks, and partially from the confidence that comes from knowing you’re going to consistently have time to set your feet and get a good shot up.
This is setting up as a perfect Trap Game. Pop’s gonna be walking into the visitor’s locker room with a wolfish smile and saying “Boy’s we got them right where we want them”…..er it could happen that way. Hope Coach B is going to do some major league reaming in our locker room
IMO he plays under control, he does what the team needs him to do and most importantly he doesn’t try to do too much. I barely came to the conclusion that Metu was an NBA player at the end of last season. IMO Lyles is a very dependable an d reliable team player than Metu is
Totally agree. My hope is that Metu pays attention to what Lyles does when he’s on the floor – playing to his strengths, not trying to do too much, and not trying to be what he isn’t.
If Mezi can let go of a bit of pride, he can have a solid NBA career. But he has to start accepting who and what he is as an NBA player. That said, there have been some signs here and there that he’s doing just that. Fingers crossed that it continues.
Early in this game, I thought “Fox, Monk, Davion, and Lyles have been the difference makers tonight, they should play together down the stretch.” And sure enough, that was the lineup to start the 4th.
Lyles going off tonight is able to happen because of Brown’s rigid philosophy of playing the hot hand rather than the “starters”. It’s why TD was able to drop 31 two nights ago.
We have a coach that puts players into positions to succeed. Imagine that.
To the players’ credit though…you need a really unselfish group to pull that off. A lot of “stars” wouldn’t be happy about sitting most of the 4th quarter, even if a bench guy’s on fire in the moment.
I love that huerter is getting assists and still playing hard when he shooting poorly… more importantly the kings are able to still have a strong games without one of their key players shooting poorly..
When you have 8 guys who could lead the team in scoring on any given night, it takes the pressure off of everyone to have to be “on”, every single night.
Davion made the difference at the end of the 3rd beginning of the 4th. He gets my game ball and Lyles gets one too. It could have gone either way up until then
I know what you mean. I don’t know how I would have felt if the Kings had blown this one after the magnificent win on Tuesday to the “struggling San Antonio Spurs losers recently of their last 8 games” We would have been written off nationally with a sniff from the basketball heads as a fluke unworthy of any more attention. Next loss won’t hurt. It’s gonna happen sometime in 2023
Hey Vivek tell us what you think about the purple bean! “Everybody is on a journey and this is part of our journey” -Vivek. Huh?
Beam us up Kings!
This would be a good game for the Kings to start improving defensively.
Please don’t give in to the trap game fellas
If fox has 25+ points
If Domas has 12+ boards and 8+ assists
If we don’t blow it defensively
And if a Spurs’ bench nobody doesn’t drop 30
We will win
I’ve been loving our team even more than usual this year, but I’m still scared they’re gonna blow this win streak.
What’s wrong with site? I haven’t had to log back in the last few days.. this madness must stop
Had to log in to rec
Murray needs to start making an imprint

TD getting the start. andy_sims confirmed Mike Brown burner account.
Have never wanted to see a game more or dreaded seeing it more.
This is the way
Guys this doesn’t look like a team that MIGHT make the playoffs, it looks like a team you sure as hell don’t want to see in the first round.
Let’s just get 5 games above .500 before we get too excited.
You may feel you sound pragmatic, but I suspect your fear of disappointment is preventing you from seeing what’s before your very eyes.
This is a playoff team barring Sabonis being crushed by a piano.
Noooooo……
Will you take personal responsibility for keeping him away from any multi story buildings?…..I mean….personally I’d really appreciate it
agreed
A lot of effort by the Kings on the defensive end. I’ll be surprised if this game ends up being competitive.
“I also understand from my playing days”
Ugh. My affordable stream has the Kings broadcast as the only option. Nails on the chalkboard.
I could get used to watching play like this!
My God the ball movement….AGAIN!
I’ve always wondered why we don’t see more of this. The ball can move faster than human feet can, and if you keep moving it around at a high enough clip, you’re almost always going to find an open shot.
What an absolute thing of beauty.
This has been a thing for many years. There were years when the Kingsz would be 5 out passing the ball around the perimiter and I always felt like the coach was emphasizing ball movement but none of the players really understood why they were doing it…….At least that’s the way it looked to me.
That aligns perfectly with the lack of BBIQ we’ve seen from most of the Kings’ clubs over the past 16 years.
Deadspin posted an article today called “The NBA’s Worst Owners….and Vivek isn’t on it!!
https://deadspin.com/the-nbas-worst-owners-1849789898
Is that…progress?
Fox’s shot looks convincing to me. His form is really pure, you can tell he’s gotten a million shots up in the gym.
There’s a relaxed-ness to his shot too right now, partially from the reality of Domas creating space and getting him more open looks, and partially from the confidence that comes from knowing you’re going to consistently have time to set your feet and get a good shot up.
Metu is not good enough for what we’re trying to do. Show me Holmes or Queta!
I dunno man….the last few minutes of Mezi have looked pretty good to me.
Can Mike Brown actually get serviceable rim-protector minutes out of Metu? That’d be something else…
Still wanna see Holmes and Queta. Metu has definitely learned to fit into a role, but I just think he’s a limited player.
I CHANGE MY MIND METU IS AWESOME
Don’t do that
Spurs can miss a 3 any time now….
Davis picking up the ball off the ground in a crowd
Getting a little sloppy now…
When I look into Jakob Poeltl eyes I see I killed a man
This is setting up as a perfect Trap Game. Pop’s gonna be walking into the visitor’s locker room with a wolfish smile and saying “Boy’s we got them right where we want them”…..er it could happen that way. Hope Coach B is going to do some major league reaming in our locker room
I’m really banking on a workmanlike, 9-12 point victory right now. Doesn’t have to be fancy. Just has to go into the Win column.
This is far from a sure thing
the game is a toss-up. Kings have had some sloppy stretches. refs made some bad calls against the Kings.
Cmon fellas pull it together
Kings are not playing well, we are still thoroughly out classing the Spurs. Never thought I would type that again.
What would the Kings have to trade to get Vassell and would you do it?
I would trade KZ.
I don’t think anyone would take KZ off our hands
The Spurs have some interesting second draft guys in Roby, Bates-Diop, and Bassey.
I’m pissed that we don’t have a 20-point lead. God I’m spoiled already.
gotta play Davion more in a game like this. Pops knows how to get the Kings out of their game. Davion will not get rattled.
Spurs….”very well coached” Common man Kyle you can do better than that
Kings way too sloppy to open this 3rd
A lot of Kings players just are not dialed in
What is it gonna take for Fox to actually get calls? Should have been an and-1 there
Where’s the energy?
Kings are gonna get smoked
it’s another ketchup popsicle (Catch-up POPsickle)
Our broadcast team is the absolute worst! Call the game!
Spurs have mostly controlled this game after that hot start to open the 1st for the Kings
Davion has caused five turnovers in about 10 minutes of play … just saying
Kings believing their press.
The Matt Barnes 1/3 screen during live action is the worst. Please stop that.
Damn! That Sochan dunk was a Flange 9000!
That’s it take it to the rack
HB you know better!
Feel like the spurs are camping out in the paint on defense… A whistle for 3 seconds could alleviate this
Crap, that’ll be overturned
Davion end to end for 2. Nice
Insane defense by Davion there
My boy……I’m so proud
Star player taking over to help the Kings finish that 3rd strong and get that lead back to 7. That’s what you like to see from Fox!
That little run looks like the Kings have settled down
He was so patient, so confident and collected. Just settled the team down, drew the defense’s attention, and cooly swung the ball out to an open Monk.
That run was on Davion’s defense.
Kings seemed to finally realize in that last 1:30 of the 3rd that they’re going to have to actually focus a bit if they want to win this game.
Exactly. Play D pass the ball, no razzle dazzle. Play ball the way your coach wants you to
Poeltl’s nose draws the foul.
Davion putting the clamps on my goodness. This is a defensive clinic
Best Kings defender since Ron Artest.
I was lead to believe it was KZ…
Now this is looking like Kings basketball……..Have never ever said that before
Inspired defense by Davion has us on this run.
Yep. Defensive intensity by the entire team picked up. They are hounding the Spurs the moment they inbound the ball
Kings stepping on the Spurs throats right here!
Kings faked out the director
Trey Lyles?!
What a pass by Fox
We’ll all remember the Trey Lyles game
It seems like ref 63 is calling most of the fouls. Kings should drive every time he’s under the basket
I love Trey Lyle’s game. Very very solid
Just feels like an ideal backup 4. Reminds me of a bit more under control Lawrence Funderburke.
IMO he plays under control, he does what the team needs him to do and most importantly he doesn’t try to do too much. I barely came to the conclusion that Metu was an NBA player at the end of last season. IMO Lyles is a very dependable an d reliable team player than Metu is

Tech on Ron Threesly

So you’re saying….coaches matter?
Never would have imagined… 😉
To the players’ credit though…you need a really unselfish group to pull that off. A lot of “stars” wouldn’t be happy about sitting most of the 4th quarter, even if a bench guy’s on fire in the moment.
It’s possible that jwalker said what I’ve been trying to say all game. Good stuff jwalker
Totally agree!!
Monk rules
Domas has no assists
Kentucky players doing work tonight
The difference in this game is the free throws.
Davion
I love that huerter is getting assists and still playing hard when he shooting poorly… more importantly the kings are able to still have a strong games without one of their key players shooting poorly..

I was never worried.
I was
Davion made the difference at the end of the 3rd beginning of the 4th. He gets my game ball and Lyles gets one too. It could have gone either way up until then
Yes. He wasn’t only pressuring, he was imploring the team to do the same. That’s when the game turned. That energy was the difference.
c ould feel it even though I was watching TV
Keon Ellis getting some run!!!
Light the beam chants lol
Keon Ellis. Nice.
Second game in a row that was not competitive. Fun to watch, but not competitive. Good news.
I guess I saw it a little differently. I had no confidence the Kings were sure winners until the end of the 3rd.
LIGHT THE BEAM
Ellis5 your best friend is coming in!????
ESPN app Has four of the six highlight videos of San Antonio. That pisses me off
that was a big step forward for this team
Yep, workmanlike win. Exactly what I was hoping for.
“LIGHT THE BEAM” chant towards the end ????
This team is fun. I’m a happy kings fan. I’m ready to be hurt again
I know what you mean. Light. The. Beam.
At least the doomers have much less to say, and that’s a good thing for the rest of us.
