That was quite the non-subtle dig on Vivek, and I’m all for it.
It’s pretty telling when Jerry says that he thinks that LaVine was not Monte’s idea. I’d imagine Jerry’s got more of a pulse on the inner workings of the franchise then any of us do, but if he’s hinting, and what many of us believe, that Vivek is the one calling the shots, then this team will keep on Kangzing.
That was always the way I saw it with Lavine. I think Monte McNair can run a successful franchise. I’m less confident as to whether Vivek Ranadive’s Monte McNair can pull it off.
Yup, I think that is also evidenced by Wilcox and Locks willingness to leave. They saw the writing on the wall and jumped ship. There was no future for them here with how things are run.

this is why I keep hoping the kings completely fall apart. That’s the only way I think this owner will back off. Pressure from the fans etc. but I just don’t think it’s gonna happen.

That also means that if/when the Kings fire Monte, there’s probably not much of a chance of a quality GM like Bob Myers wanting to take the job.
Makes sense since the Kings already signed LaVine years back but then the Bulls matched the offer. I guess Vivek was always trying to get him (to go along with other players he “wanted” like Buddy Hield).

I kind of like Miners, but while I’m amused by the Miners/Minor Leagues, maybe the players don’t love it.
Gold Diggers isn’t bad, but I would imagine that for most people, the negative connotation probably occurs first. I suspect it wouldn’t have legs.

Can Monte be assessed accurately, knowing that Vivek is more than likely the final decision maker?
Most owners are the final decision makers. It Monte’s job to steer Vivek in the right direction. Get him on board. Talk him down from the crazy shit.
I think the biggest problem is that Vivek has always had a sounding board guy that is not the GM. Mullin, Vlade, Dumars, Vlade again. It’s extra bad when the sounding board guy wants the GM job – Vlade. Vlade again?
