The Sacramento Kings announced Sunday that second-round pick Neemias Queta signed a two-way contract. Queta was selected by the Kings with the 39th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
Signing Queta to a two-way contract gives the Kings plenty of flexibility moving forward. He’ll be able to get consistent development with the Stockton Kings, while also playing a significant portion of the season with the Sacramento Kings if they so choose. Queta would not be playoff eligible if the Kings made the playoffs, unless they converted him to a full contract.
The signing also means that the Kings have their second round pick under team control without using a normal roster spot. It’s assumed that Louis King will be the other Two-Way Contract for the Kings but that has yet to be finalized formally.
Probably a smart move. I thought he showed some flashes in the second game of the California Classic. Hope he gets more minutes with Mitchell in Vegas.
The Kings of the Future – Louis King and Queta !
But, do the Kings maintain team control?
In order to maintain team control the Kings must understand how to maintain team control. See, it’s all about maintaining team control.
OT: Vivek applying pressure
Outside the organization, there is a perception that Sacramento’s new front office is already “feeling the heat” from Kings owner Vivek Ranadive.
“How do you stop Devil’s plan?”
Sounds like a good thing to me
It has worked wonders for the past eight years, no?
so what’s the alternative?
not have any pressure after 15 seasons of no playoffs?
keep accepting losing seasons?
tank?
there should be pressure to make big moves and win. I’m not sure why anyone would have a problem with that.
Except the whole having absolutely no money and forcing Monte to use the worst coach in the league stuff. Maybe look in the mirror and hold yourself to the same standard there, Vivs.
its so funny
people are upset when they lose
people are upset when they win
people are just always upset, lol
i guess 15 years of futility will do that.
What is this “win” you speak of?
Lol
*try to win
Upset when they win? When exactly have the Kings won.
Upset because this team keeps doing the wrong thing over and over. Rightfully upset.
Upset because the owner is a joke.
Counterpoint. A lot of the decisions that have this team where it is right now has been due to Vivek’s pressure/meddling. And every previous hire has had his approval/blessing.
There are a lot of successful NBA teams that have owners that hire good, knowledgeable NBA people and then get out of their way and let them do their jobs. Wish we were one of those teams.
Exactly. You can’t demand success from someone, then fail to provide the basic environment necessary to achieve it.
Sure seems like a lot of the world runs that way, though.
Just look at public school teachers. “Here, take this class of 35 students. 5 of which come from homes that don’t speak english, 2 are foster kids with a “history,” 3 have special needs, and 1 has his parents in jail. Oh, and do for $55K a year without an aid or support from the administration because their hands are tied. Cool?
And get crapped on in the media and the public for the effort, while charter schools get to kick the “bad” kids back to you and trumpet how successful they are.
This is America, who HASN’T had a boss like that at some point?
The alternative is to fucking build a team with your young players, picks and trades. Not holding onto the crap you have and hope for a star. The alternative is to fire the piece of shit coach.
I mean, seriously, this attempt to skip the building process hasn’t worked. The alternative is not doing the same fucking thing they’ve been doing
This guy seems upset
And rightfully so. If you can’t see that, it’s not my problem.
I don’t appreciate your snark.
I gave you an answer-alternative. Nice elementary school response
He’s been a fan for far too long and has been a good commenter here and at the last site for a fucking long time.
LOL, Kings are gonna trade for Kevin Love, aren’t they.
“Monte, this is the Vivs. You need to get a superstar right away, or I’m afraid it might not work out for you. You can’t trade Swipa or The Hali or Off Night, or take on any more salary, or use any of our firsts. It shouldn’t be too hard, homies like Simmons and Siakim will love playing for me and Luke and spending weekends at Fairy Tale Town. If you need anything, ask the Joe Dumars first, cool? Sweet, let’s go get this, Monte!”
As much as I don’t like Vivek meddling, McNair shouldn’t need the pressure. He’s a year in, two offseasons and a trade deadline, and he hasn’t made a move outside the draft to meaningfully improve the team. I know some folks in the fan community think they’ve done enough to improve and are satisfied.
I certainly hope that’s not the view in the front office. All indications are that McNair sees that this is not a playoff team, and understands that he needs to add talent, and not in the form of bench players and mediocre vets, or waiting for the draft every year. The pressure should be internal to the front office, not external, from ownership and fans.
The assets are the assets. It ain’t wine, where they’re going to improve with age. The front office are not going to be able to sit around through deadlines and offseasons waiting for the perfect deal, and they shouldn’t want to do that. They’re going to have to make a move, and given that we’re likely talking about Hield, Bagley and picks, it’s almost certainly not going to bring back a Siakam or Simmons. But that also doesn’t mean they can’t do anything.
My suspicion is that once the decisions are made on Siakam and Simmons, they’ll move on to less desirable deals. I don’t think they’re getting either player without including Halliburton or Fox, but I don’t blame them for trying.
It’s time to make a move to improve the team, Maybe it’s not a perfect move or a move they like, but they can’t wait forever to do something, and I think they know that.
Eh, whatever. Nothing wrong with speculation, but it’s nothing to be concerned over really either. If you were concerned Vivek Ranadive’s managing style is not conducive to building a winning NBA team, you are not likely to be encouraged by this article.
This article is nothing but space filling for a guy whose job is to report information. It’s mostly a nothing burger, and the most revealing thing I saw was that Siakam isn’t necessarily seeking out of Toronto. Which, isn’t all that revealing either.
Vivek being Vivek and not backing off is a reason for concern and irritation.
Until that piece of shit backs off it’s near impossible to win.
Just as I’ve though/said this whole time. It is clear to me that McNair is working within the bullshit parameters Vivek has set.
Vivek is a piece of shit. His ego still trying to run the Kings into the ground.
On cue: Shot-erasing Queta is a long-term project. PT in Stockton for now unless he quickly develops. Very good potential.
A worthwhile long term project. It’s good to see the Kings FO thinking this way. I’m not sure they ever did under Divac.
Divac probably thought of his GM’ing as a long term project.
Q will never be an all-star but big guys take longer to develop. He may become a spot starter
He is big, he dunks, has good hands, rebounds but gets caught out of position and bullied at times.
In college he was a decent passer, s especially from the elbow.
