The NBA has suspended Domantas Sabonis for one game for making contact with an official in Monday’s loss to the New York Knicks. Sabonis was ejected from the Knicks game as he argued over the foul and made contact with the ref. The league says Domas “approached and bumped the official in a hostile manner”, which….well, watch for yourself:
But as you can see in the video, the contact is beyond minimal. He’s walking up alongside the official and they touch. It’s not like Domas was bodying up the ref or making any sort of threat. He’s trying to get close to the ref to argue his point. A suspension seems like an absurd overreaction from the league.
Sabonis will serve the suspension tonight as the Kings play the Denver Nuggets. Sabonis has done a good job battling Nikola Jokic in the last two games against the Nuggets, but Jokic (and DeMarcus Cousins) will likely feast tonight without Domas down low.
More fuel for the accidental tank!
Exactly. We will achieve our goal by whatever means necessary.
In the third quarter, Fox should grab an official’s ass with both hands.
That was my first thought too when I saw the headline!
Nice to see the league helping the Kings tank. If ownership and the front office can’t figure it out, it’s good to know the league has our back.
I like the fire Ox. Keep stoking it. Lord knows we need it on this team.
I’ve seen all the “what about”isms on Twitter too, but honestly, how is anyone surprised or outraged by this?
I don’t care what other penalties were, you can’t do that.
Agreed, this was the right call by the league.
Not arguing the one game suspension, but there is a disparity when Grayson Allen gets the exact same punishment for decapitating Alex Caruso, who has now missed 21 games and counting. That said, you deserve a game for making even the most minimal of contact with the ref.
Yeah, I have little issue with the Sabonis suspension. But the league is not very balanced in its approach to punishments.
I am with you on both of your sentences; however, I cannot accept you starting a sentence with “But.”
Get out of here with that! But head!
Grayson Allen should be put in stocks and shamed in the public square. He’s been a dirty, miserable player and human being for his entire career, including college. A face even a mother would punch, too.
Ted Cruz only grew that awful beard so that people would stop saying that he looked like Grayson Allen.
This is gold.
Don’t encourage Sims, Adam. It’s bad enough that Ted Cruz is considered an actual person. Everyone knows Cruz is really a hologram and it should be considered cruel to claim a hollow image has a beard. Because the hologram doesn’t really exist for it to actually grow a 6 o’clock shadow let alone fur. Besides being a hologram, everyone also knows that Cruz is just a stooge ready to take over for the Lizard People any day now. You know, the Vichy Nazi of humanism.
Trigger warning: Ted Cruz
Nah. Cruz is just a major league clown, as so many occupying spots in DC are these days.
And the mullet was so no one would confuse Ted with that guy who went on vacation while his constituents froze in their houses with no power. F that guy, whoever he was!
Eh, whatever. It’s silly Domas is losing money over this. But that’s about the extent of my outrage over this.
Yeah, the rules are the rules, but there’s nothing to see here.
While I don’t think it’s worth the suspension, I get why they suspended him. Domas was understandably frustrated.
OT AF but I need some advice – Any of you fine people ever attend concerts at G1C? I don’t usually do big concerts but we want to go see the Who in October. Do tix ever get cheaper as the date approaches (like they do for Kangz games) or is it smarter just to suck it up and buy them now at full price? Thanks!
(runs through entire Abbott & Costello bit in head, decides to spare everyone)
Prices will drop from 3rd party vendors (who likely have already purchased the majority of the tickets currently sold) if the concert does not sell out. Even if the show does “sell out” there will still be hundreds of tickets being sold by those third party vendors right up the show. In other words…you have time to see how things play out.
Just for reference, even though the show is in Oakland, I got Paul McCartney tickets from a third party 3 days after the concert went on sale for almost half of what original price was listed on Ticketmaster when I went to purchase at 10am sharp.
This is good advice. One thing I’ve learned about Sacramento is that concerts never sell out until the day that they take place. People are very used to walking up to the box office and getting tickets on their way in.
Having said that, you may not want to wait quite that long.
Great advice! Thanks so much. Which 3rd party vendors are reliable for things like this? I only know of Stubhub. I don’t do much major event stuff.
Also, on show days, many bands will release additional tickets. Not sure you’ll get a better price, but you might get really good seats.
Standard fare when you’re the doormat for the rest of the league…
Doormatas Sabonis?
I wish the NBA had a rule where only the captains and/or the coaches can talk to the referee’s. Players complaining about every single call has gotten old.
Sabonis touched the ref about as hard as he touched the guy he fouled.
