No, that score isn’t a typo. The game was worse than the score indicates. If you missed this game, congratulations.

yes, what future. and what play in?
NOP close to .500 post 1-12 start. Blazers playing better
Kings best hope is if they can catch the Pacers on the race to the bottom.
Then the better draft choice will give them pause, I hope, about trading every future free asset for Simmonds or Grant or Carmelo.
Not a chance, once gentry put in Queta and King, the two guys who gave a f*ck, I know the 60 point deficit would be cut, as much as I wanted them to lose by 100.
I’m pretty confident we hit rock bottom years ago and have just kept drilling. Who knows if we are even making a dent in the rock but boy are we trying to go deeper.
Employees also rated Sacramento Kings (Basketball Team) 3.1 out of 5 for work life balance, 3.8 for culture and values and 3.3 for career opportunities.
I remember a story about Vivek challenging his employees to push-up contests, so at least they get to keep fit at work. That’s got to add a .003 to the work-life balance.
It says a lot to me that as an employee (player in this case) that you still don’t try to be the best at your job, regardless of the situation. The players effort is 100% in their control, and if they give shit effort like this simply because the environment is crap, then things will never change and all of these dudes need to go.
The only way Monte has any chance at another GM job after this one is to resign in protest and make it clear he couldn’t do his job properly because of ownership meddling.
So when do they fire or trade every single person associated with this team and start over? I’m still in favor of keeping Hali but they are going to need to surround him with NBA basketball players. I’ve never eaten excrement but I’m assuming the taste this team leaves in my mouth is very similar.
If I were Monte, I would not only trade everything I could, but I would completely get rid of the entire coaching staff and start completely new. Why bring in all new players with an old losing coaching staff.
Saddest aspect of that final score is that there’s King’s fans that actually wasted their time and watched that game. My sincere advice, check out, stop watching this team until major changes are made at all organizational levels.
Honestly, I think I’m damn near that point, if not already there. I’ve been rooting for these losers for years and they never fail to disappoint. When you lose by 50+ points, why would anyone want to watch that garbage?
I’m actually enjoying watching it. It’s kind of like watching a car crash. My buddy and I text back and forth talking shit about Vivek the entire game. It’s kinda of therapeutic.
Did that a long time ago Napear. Haven’t watched a Kings game in months. I checked out parts of a few games early in the season as I do every year, to see how the rookies look, then reached the conclusion “Nope. Team is still junk” and tuned out again. If it were not for this forum, I would have zero idea about the Kings. I am a former season ticket holder too.
This organization is a complete insult to the city of Sacramento. Sacramento is not the problem, the problem is the Kings organization and in particular Vivek Ranadive. The fan base has completely lost all confidence in his ability to lead this team. His desire to make this team Warrior West has failed and now we find our team in the worst condition since he took over.
I agree everyone needs to go…clear the air.
Small market teams like the bucks make championships….meanwhile we have a complete doofus organization…you’re right the problem isn’t Sacramento it’s these clowns in charge
The whole small-market thing isn’t nearly as big as impediment as it was a generation ago. With social media and other forms of instant “viral” promotion, even small-market players can make big names for themselves. Would Giannis be more famous if he played in New York? I don’t think so. Bottom line is every owner is a billionaire with more than enough money to pay top-shelf talent and build world-class facilities. The difference comes down to execution, and the KANGZ are executing what’s left of their fanbase’s enthusiasm.
Well in Milwaukee’s case they had to have enough sense/scouting talent to draft him at #15 and then build a competent roster around him. It’s a lot more work for them then say a team like the fakers which attract big names due to location without having to do AS much. Small market teams need to try harder but Sacramento gets constantly shitted on because the organization actually looks like it’s trying but has been desperately failing for the last 15 years.
I stopped having confidence in Vivek’s leadership when they fired Malone and he allowed Pete D to do all of his shady GM stuff. Knew right then that Vivek had no clue how to run a group of adults at his place of business.
Never forget the Maloofs were pretty good owners until their investments tanked. The Maloofs lacked money. Vivek lacks sense, humility, and basic competence.
Not even sure what to say at this point. Every part of the basketball organization is an mitigated disaster filled with absolute morons who can’t get out of their own way, from the owner whose every instinct is the opposite of right, to the GM who only looks slightly better than quite possibly the dumbest man to ever make personnel decisions for a professional sports team, to the gutless, no talent players.
There’s apathy, and there’s a boycott, and at this point, I’m in favor of both.
from the owner whose every instinct is the opposite of right, to the GM who only looks slightly better than quite possibly the dumbest man to ever make personnel decisions for a professional sports team
I thought it was an enjoyable game. I say that because it was fun to watch how brilliant Tatum and Brown play, and Williams is a monster down low.
Added bonus, Spurs won. So we’re now tied with them for the 6th spot and have a legit shot of moving into sole possession of 5th after tomorrow night’s loss. As the Pacers play at home vs Charlotte.
The fans would support a rebuilding, passionate 17-win team with a coach who develops players. Please let Monte do this, or replace him if he can’t. At the very least, we deserve a direction. And if you want to sell, we’d be okay with that, too.
I am glad Jerry got out when he did. Two legends that deserve much better. Luckily we have Jerry on the Herald and the Podcast. Maybe they can work on having the G Man as a guest on the Pod???
It boggles the mind to think that it’s actually way harder to build the level of incompetence of the Kings organization than it is to build a dynasty that can win 3 NBA championships in a row.
3+ NBA championships in a row?
Boston Celtics – 8 in a row 1959-1966
Minneapolis Lakers – 3 in a row 1952-1954
Chicago Bulls – 3 in a row 1991 – 1993
Chicago Bulls – 3 in a row 1996 – 1998
Los Angeles Lakers – 2000-2002
15+ years without a playoff appearance?
Sacramento Kings
Los Angeles Clippers
A 3-peat has been done 5 times since 1959.
A 15-year streak without a playoff appearance (not winning a playoff game, just qualifying for the playoffs) has been done 2 times in the history of the NBA..
And we’ll have the all time futility award (16 seasons) in 30something games. Fantastic. Never been done. Never equaled.
Until next season when we’ll stretch that out to 17 seasons.
I feel bad for the players that truly dedicated their lives to mastering the craft of basketball – from grade school to high school to college…probably missing out on a lot of normal childhood to dedicate 10s of thousands of hours to practice and competition. And now they are stuck in this hellhole and just counting the days until they can get the f* out.
A reincarnated Wilt Chamberlain that Ave 50 pts, 22 rebounds and 5 blocks ! That would do it and he once did it while alive ! Other than him , it may take 2pieces !
Was anybody else hoping they’d lose by 60?
I was hoping Boston would double up the Kings. It was pretty close for a moment there at the end.
My only concern is that they’ll panic and mortguage the whole future to trade for just about anyone in a scramble to reach the play-in.
What future ?
yes, what future. and what play in?

157 comments. Did the Kings win by 60?
Why don’t they just demote the team to the g-league?
They’re already there at this point. I think a high school team would have put up better numbers. I KNOW that they would have played with more heart.
I would support that rule change.
too bad this was not like the Premier League where the bad teams get demoted to the G League
Remember, Vivek wants Monte to get this team to the playoffs this year.
Delusional
is there something way , way beyond delusional?
Isn’t that the saddest thing of all, that this entire organization is supposedly trying its hardest to win?
All they have to give….for 15 years.
Correction. The safest thing of all is having Vivek as owner
Damn it. Saddest.
It’s beyond pathetic tbh.

Fucking
Idiot!
to not see how bad this organization is-idiot. To not see this team needs to rebuild-get a high pick-don’t build around Fox-Idiot.
To not see the owner’s ego has killed this team. Fucking Moron
Let me know when we hit the bottom.
Already there, but the stupid sunzabitches keep digging.
I’m pretty confident we hit rock bottom years ago and have just kept drilling. Who knows if we are even making a dent in the rock but boy are we trying to go deeper.
It’s hard to feel like this team deserves to be in the NBA.
Wait. Didn’t watch obviously, stopped watching a long time ago, however:

Best recap ever!
Also, this isn’t even rock bottom yet
This recap possessed far more effort than the game deserved.
If it took longer than a minute, okay 90 seconds, to write and post, Greg gave WAYYYYYY too much effort.
This is the recap this game deserves. 100%
Think how much some of these guys got paid for this. It’s really depressing.
I understand this it is their job but I don’t put much on them.
Their work environment (organization) is a mess. Probably not fun to be there for them.
The players output-will is a direct outcome of Vivek’s horrid organization.
We’ve heard plenty of tidbits about the diminutive piece of shit treating employees poorly.
Unless Vivek let’s a GM retool (he won’t) it’s abject failure forever. Protest/billboard time soon enough.
Maybe we ought to do a fundraiser to raise money for renting highway billboards. Angry fans protesting team would surely gain national attention.
According to Glassdoor data:
I remember a story about Vivek challenging his employees to push-up contests, so at least they get to keep fit at work. That’s got to add a .003 to the work-life balance.

I miss Doug calling games.
No way. He was bad. I think he’s much better in a coaches role.
He was brought in to be a defensive coach. The Kings are one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA. Need I say more?
He’s been given Buddy Hield, De’Aaron Fox, and Marvin Bagley to work with. Michelangelo couldn’t sculpt a statue out of runny dog crap.
Best high-fiver in the league, hands down.
He was better than Non stop talker Kayte but not by much !
That’s how I’ve been when I’ve tuned in to any of our recent losses. I get deliriously giddy. I want to keep watching, but I have to turn it off.
FIRE VIVEK
#BILLBOARD 2.0

Bless you for making it this long…
I chose the wrong night to check in on this team man…..
I’m actually enjoying watching it. It’s kind of like watching a car crash. My buddy and I text back and forth talking shit about Vivek the entire game. It’s kinda of therapeutic.

There is zero way you can look at this team and not say TEAR IT DOWN.
Everyone needs to go.
Everyone.
Clear the air.

Their second best player was a 2nd rd pick, Chris Middleton ! A two time All Star ! Rest of team trades and low cost F A !
Rock bottom, you proved my point. Their scouting is obviously more competent than ours
Bravo.
I stopped having confidence in Vivek’s leadership when they fired Malone and he allowed Pete D to do all of his shady GM stuff. Knew right then that Vivek had no clue how to run a group of adults at his place of business.
I agree with your take, but Oakland/San Francisco are west of Sacramento.
Just Vivek needs to go. Then you’d actually have a chance.
Not sure about that. There’s others that have been “in charge” for over 16 seasons.
Never forget the Maloofs were pretty good owners until their investments tanked. The Maloofs lacked money. Vivek lacks sense, humility, and basic competence.
It’s not even fun to ridicule the Kings anymore. You all were promised a GREAT team when Golden One was built. Fooled you.
G1C is nice- but the contents stink
Not even sure what to say at this point. There’s apathy, and there’s a boycott, and at this point, I’m in favor of both.
I wish people would boycott this team and not go to anymore games. Let Vivek sit courtside alone and feel like a dumbass.
I don’t think Vivek feels there are other people in the room with him. They are props in his sociopathic view of the world.
Totally doable to be both
Well put Carl.
You cut right to the heart of it.
I am now a big Pacers fan. and SAS and NOP
That’s a Peach Hon!
Dear Vivek,
The fans would support a rebuilding, passionate 17-win team with a coach who develops players. Please let Monte do this, or replace him if he can’t. At the very least, we deserve a direction. And if you want to sell, we’d be okay with that, too.
Sincerely,
Anyone who ever loved this team
I hope he reads this
If you paste it into Excel and change the format to “Currency,” he might.
This is one of those games that wasn’t nearly as close as the score would indicate.
Trade them all. Trade them now. What an embarrassment.
Chose not to watch. Best choice I made all week.
Time to burn this team to the ground. From Fox down to the equipment personnel.
Proven losers. Epic losers…..
I listened to G Man call parts of this one. Man, he doesn’t deserve this.
I tuned in at just after the end of the first. G Man doing his best…calling the crowd leaving instead of the game.
I am surprised he has not walked out of a game yet. He has no reason to deal with these shit bags.
a couple of weeks ago, he did cough himself out of a game. Lucky him
Seeing this in 30 of 37 years, he’s gotta be just used to it by this point.
Yeah, he’s seen his share of pure unadulterated crap.
I think I feel worse for him than any other person associated with this organization.
I am glad Jerry got out when he did. Two legends that deserve much better. Luckily we have Jerry on the Herald and the Podcast. Maybe they can work on having the G Man as a guest on the Pod???
I switched over to the Wizards/Clippers game and honestly, I was happy our team at least had the decency to get blown out.
Wiz gave up a 35 point lead and lost on a 3pt and 1 after a 5 second call turnover.
And to let that happen in a home game, at that.
I follow the Wizards a lot, and there are some interesting comparisons with Sacramento.
Most fans are afraid that Leonsis will do everything to keep Beal happy and pay him the supermax, and will cripple the team’s future to do so.
Beal is viewed as a guy just playing for his numbers and getting paid, with awful defense, so-so BBIQ and mediocre leadership skills.
Agree on Beal ! A stat guy on a loser ! By the end of the season they will be worse than last year with Scott Brooks and Westbrook !
Hey that sounds like a player on the kangZ team
Wow, that final score is certainly……….something.
Neemius Queta played though so that was cool.
What’s with the Quetta obsession? He can’t even crack the rotation on this sorry ass team.
He’s got potential, does a lot of things other guys on this roster doesn’t do, and he’s still shiny and new.
That about sums it up for me. He’s interesting, but he’s probably a 3rd big man at best. Doesn’t mean I can’t root for the guy.
It boggles the mind to think that it’s actually way harder to build the level of incompetence of the Kings organization than it is to build a dynasty that can win 3 NBA championships in a row.

There’s a saying in the design field.
No matter how foolproof you think your design is, you’re wrong because the universe always makes a better fool.
Lol, I like that! There’s always a dumbass lurking somewhere
jokes on the universe- we are the better fool!
This is why there needs to be a COMPLETE RESET!!!! keep Burt. Trade everyone else!!! That’s not fan depression, that’s fan realism.
No reason to get excited here folks! Monte sees no reason to blow up the team!
Just need that 1 piece…
A reincarnated Wilt Chamberlain that Ave 50 pts, 22 rebounds and 5 blocks ! That would do it and he once did it while alive ! Other than him , it may take 2pieces !
Nah, he’d take the ball out of Fox’s hands.
Let’s go Kings!
Trades get harder when this happens.
Sixers….I want Fox and Haliburton…..and some picks. I will give you Simmons jock strap.
Kings…No Way! These guys are too valuable to give up.
Sixers…. Didn’t you just lose by more than fifty?
Monte: yeah but fox wasn’t playing so he’s worth 50 picks
Monte is the only one watching the game…nobody else knows who plays or doesn’t play.
I hope this is true. Worried it’s not.
