The Sacramento Kings are back in action Monday night at the California Classic against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Though Game 2 with a bit of a letdown with Darius Acuff Jr., Dylan Cardwell and Nique Clifford all sitting out, it has been reported that all three will suit up for Monday’s game.
Oh, and don’t look now, but the Kings are 2-0. This is the time of year when the Kings play their best basketball, second to only when the playoffs are out of reach and a high draft pick is on the line.
The game will be on ESPNU and Prime Video.
Go Kings!

Facts. No team in the league plays better the moment they get eliminated from the post season.
On a side note, Jamarion Sharp makes Nique Clifford look like he’s 5’10. Crazy seeing 7’5″ in real life.
Just saw a trade idea where Sabonis goes to the Clippers for Brando Ingram. Would this be a good idea? He is 28 but. 2 years younger than Sabonis. Would probably take Derozan’s place at SF. 20 point shooter. Can shoot the 3. Handles the ball pretty well. Plays good defense. Would be a good player next to Keegan Murray. Keegan spaces the floor so Ingram can work inside. Starters Acuff, Clifford, Ingram, Murray and Raynaud.
I just saw that on Bleacher Report as well. It’s an interesting thought experiment and does save the Kings money. LA does need a center and Sabonis could provide some solid rebounding and playmaking for them. I’m just not sure the Kings are ready to hand the keys to Maxi and Cardwell to platoon the 5 spot and I’m not sure LA wants to take on a larger contract as they are clearly rebuilding.
No thanks– we need decent assets in all trade offers. If he can’t secure us solid role players/decent starters, the trading him is not smart. Be patient, get the right offer, and utilize his talents to develop Acuff. Also, don’t let Saboniz dictate where he wants to be trade to.
Well said agree. That trade buys us nothing. If there’s a good deal for Sabonis certainly entertain it but just to trade for something that really does fit with the future makes no sense.
No way clippers do that
I don’t feel it’s that far fetched. Ingram was rumored as part of a package for Sabonis from Toronto. It does fill two positions of need for both teams and overall I feel Sabonis is the better player. I would think the biggest hangup would be the price difference. Clips may want to send additional salary back to Sac.
I should note, the Kawhi trade was not made official yet, so maybe there are still more moving parts they are working on.
Kangz would score 150 pts a night, but give up 160.
Meh I’d rather keep Domas. I want to see him work with Acuff and we need rebounding.
Darius is probably just gonna play 1/2 of the game to preserve him for Vegas but at the same time appease the local fanbase starving to look at his game. E# gets the night off and Flagler takes his place. I don’t think J# has what it takes for the NBA level, other than being the same height as Wemby.
I know who you are referring to with E# and J#, but I’m not understanding the reference. Could you please explain?
“#” is the musical symbol for “sharp”!
Ahhhhh! I was thinking “pound.” I feel like an idiot now.
You are showing your age Adam. Now, get off my lawn.
I’m plenty old, just showing my stupidity.
Cardwell looking good.
He’s still too “twitchy.” Bit on that fake, and tends to reach a lot. But a lot better than last year. Needs to be more disciplined in that regard, otherwise, his playing time will be limited by foul trouble.
But Acuff’s court vision is elite. If that alley-oop had been a legit lob threat, look out below!
Jones said Isaiah Stevens is the 3rd 2-way player. Did I miss him getting re-signed? I thought he was a RFA?
I’m guessing he was just basing that off last year. The third slot is open right now and I hope Flagler loses his 2-way (too old, too short, and too mediocre), unless he makes major improvements over the next month.
Only Mogbo and Flagler for sure. 3rd one still open.
Can we call Mogbo “mofo”?
He looked like a pretty mean Mogbo on defense in one of the games.
OK, I think Sutton needs an Exhibit-10 camp invite.
Lakhin too
Dude is a bully and tough as nails. I don’t think he’s NBA material, but he’d be a boon to camp to rough some dudes up. Another Exhibit-10
He looked ok last game, but did not play well tonight.
He is gonna be the new Brockness monster.
He’s the only player without a contract standing out. He may need a 2-way contract.
That Acuff 3 was pretty impressive. Clutch.
I’m getting excited to see what he can do in the upcoming season. He’s got excellent floor vision and is deadly from distance.
This city is desperate for a star. In the 40 plus years of being here in Sacramento, the Kings haven’t drafted a single player who’s destined for the Hall of Fame. Hopefully Tyrese breaks that streak but that’ll be bittersweet.
yup, and his passes to the sides for the corner threes were so precise and on point. I see Keegan making a living there, provided he learns how to shoot again.
I think Keegan will be better if he doesn’t have to expend as much energy on defense.
His shot looks really nice and smooth.
Pretty fucking cool to see Acuff put his signature to Sign Lady’s sign. Good stuff.
Glad that Sign Lady is still doing her thing.
Bring on Vegas ! Easy to be encouraged by Acuff and Sharp .
Hopefully we can also see Karaban.
I’m seeing enough of Acuff to confirm what I saw in college. He can play and we were handed a gift from Brooklyn who passed up on him. I’m not seeing a dog on defense but I’m also not seeing this major liability on defense. He anticipates and gets into passing lanes and his instincts are just fine.
I realize LaVine will play offer Clifford and rightfully so but this lineup will be interesting to watch.
Acuff
Clifford
Murray
Sabonis
Raynaud
Also nothing wrong with playing Acuff, LaVine, Clifford, Murray and Sabonis. You want to throw in a little Sharp with Monk and Precious, that will also be ok to watch. At least now we have a few pieces that will be interesting to see play and develop.
Ridiculous overpay for a guy who’s lead his team to just one conference finals in 9 seasons, and will be 34 in his final year making $75M.
Sheesh. That’s crazy. I guess Cleveland needs to overpay their stars like Sac does.
way too much
trouble in paradise?

If nothing else, the timing on this is verrrrrry curious.
let’s see…
replacement options:
Mike BibbyBrad MillerPeja StojakovicAnjaliDid I leave anyone out?
I don’t believe the Sacramento Kings can compete with only
Lead Assistant: Mike Woodson
Assistant Coaches:
Bobby Jackson, Mike Miller, Chris Darnell, and Leandro BarbosaAssistant Coach / Player Development:
Dipesh MistryHead of Player Development: Paul Jesperson
Player Development Coaches: Jimmy Alapag and Garrius Adams
Coaching Assistant / Advance Scout: Will Scott
Head Video Coordinator: Shandon Goldman
Assistant Video Coordinator: Steph Ingo
I don’t know if you left anyone out, but you did forget how to use the space bar there for a second, haha. Maybe Vivek will take over those duties. You know, he did lead his daughter’s youth team to a title while playing 4 on 5 defensively. A brilliant mind, that Vivek.
My Kings nightmare is Vivek looking into free agency and thinking, “Hey, there’s this guy who is perfect for my 4-on-5 cherry picking offense… And we can market him as the King of Kings!!”
(His apparent lack of interest in defense would also track, sadly)
When I listed the names, it formatted me with bullets for each one. It then reformatted on the post. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Fight with Christie? Fight with Vivek? Fight with Perry? Date with Anjali?
Could be anything…
… A real NBA job?
Haha maybe
Well, if Jackson was the one in charge of defense, I don’t think it could get any worse.
Famous last words…
Who was in charge of the rotations?
He saw a lineup with Acuff, LaVine, Domas and said “F-that, I’m out”. lol.
Well, hope Bobby the best. Go latch on to a better organization.
“PLAY LIKE YOU SECURED THE 7th PICK! GO KINGS!”
Bobby Jax out means come on back J-Will . One of the most creative passers and handling skills in NBA history .
