September is nearly over, and the new season is just around the corner. Media Day is happening as I write this, and training camp officially opens on Tuesday. It’s a time of hope and optimism, and Kings know that it’s best to enjoy it while we can. With that in mind, we always like to include a question in 30Q that’s directed back to you: What are you looking forward to the most this season?
Personally, I’m just excited to see how this roster will work, and what Mike Brown can do with the Kings. It’s kind of a cop-out, all-inclusive answer, but it’s the truth. The Kings made major changes at the trade deadline and again this offseason. The Kings have a lot of rotation-level players, but there are still question marks about how it all fits together, how Mike Brown will handle rotations and pairings, and I can’t wait to see it all.
The underlying key there is that this season should be different. There’s no guarantee it will be better, but it’s not running back the same old crew. The roster is overhauled with the additions of Domantas Sabonis, Malik Monk, Kevin Huerter, and Keegan Murray. There’s a new coach, a new system, a new energy. I have no clue if it will work, but I’m excited to find out.
Chime in below with your thoughts on what you’re most excited about for this season!
I’m looking forward to when the Kings visit Portland in March for 2 consecutive games! Could be an exciting matchup with both teams competing for a playoff/in slot
I point this one out specifically because I intend to be at at least one, if not both
1) SABONIS. The Kings haven’t had a player of his caliber since DMC, and Sabonis comes without the headaches, implosions, and assholeness. IMO, Sabonis is the best team player on the Kings since Artest, and could prove to be the best player on Kings since prime MVP caliber Peja or Webber. As Sabonis goes, so goes the Kings
2)KEEGAN. IMO, I think he may be the best prospect this team has had in well over a decade. Hali was still the tops of my list until this year’s draft, but Keegan is my new Hali. I think he is a definite starter by the end of the season and slotted in as 3rd best player on the team behind Sabonis and Fox.
What Adamsite said ^
Looking forward to more Dog please

I am looking forward to competency.
I want to see an inspired team working together for a common goal. I want everyone to give it their all, and the players to be supported by a top-notch staff.
I want opening night to be so loud that they have to open the front doors just to reduce the internal pressure of the place. I want my beer, popcorn, and to see what clever saying that sign lady came up with tonight.
How much longer do we have to wait?
What GlassCleaner said. Competency and consistency. Both have been missing for the last 16 seasons. Competency & Consistency = Relevance
What am I most looking forward to this season?
THE PLAYOFFS
Holy crap….dude in the Mighty Ducks clip kinda resembles Jim Mora.
Looking forward to be crowned Nostra champ 21-22
Last count I think I was in 10th spot, but with the Play In, anything is possible! 😀
Do you see it in the future? Can you envision it? 🙂
Local media arguing that dropping the 9/10 game ended the playoff drought.
Another season of timeless and timely gifs:
But isn’t this the season the Kings finally get over the hump?
The sex, mostly.
I’m looking forward to the season, really. I think it’ll be fun, and there will be surprises. Happy happy joy joy!!!!!
I am an eternal optomist. I would like to see the Kings in the playoffs and knocking off some team like the Lakers or any other team that think they are hot s….
Oh, the L*kers would be most enjoyable to knock out of the playoffs for sure!
yes !
LAL or even better, the entitled duds.
Jack, we agree!!!-
a very good sign.
and would you want Jae Crowder?
I don’t know. We surely need defensive players and Jae is one. Holmes is one of my favorite Kings but sometimes you need things like that to go in order to improve the whole. He does have an expiring contract. He is a team player and is willing to help win any way he can.
But so does Holmes.
No drama. Just an organization that is on the same page to produce winning basketball.
A team that plays hard and plays competent defense.
Competency. Excitement. Shooting. Defense once in a while
Fox + DS meshing
Murray as star.
and play-offs. not play ins.
and beating the LAL and the entitled duds.
The parade.
I have to agree with you Mr. Wissinger. I think another way of saying it is that it feels like a fresh start. 3/5 of the starting lineup is new. 3/5 of the bench unit is new. Davion isn’t a rookie anymore and and our new rookie appears to be a true impact player.
The entire vibe around this roster is completely different from last season. There is actual hope not false hope. There’s so many places to look at this roster and see potential and positivity. We have a real coach again and that alone is exciting considering who was failing to lead the troops last season.
OX and FOX is of particular interest.
Davion is another
Keegan yet another
Monk and Fox back together again! intriguing to say the least
I will say it again and continue to say it again and again.
Can’t wait.
Just bring us the NBA champion!
You Coward.
Finally winning TKH Fantasy.
Winning 40 games.
There was a dumb guy from the Netherlands
Who looked forward to Hessing dropping his pants
To laugh about Klam and Kosta’s gifs,
the limericks that Jman gives
And of course to Kingsguru’s rants
Who are you calling a dumb guy from The Netherlands?!
Hah! De vraag stellen is hem beantwoorden?
Look forward to takes from Rik Smits
Who is great at picking small nits.
He claims he is Dutch,
But that seems like a crutch—
Some misses, but mostly has hits!
There was once a man from Dutch-land….
He ate nothing but wooden clogs and hot takes.
He also worshipped a guy from Marist…
Who one day found out the hard way the NBA is a business…
He grabbed Rese’s pieces and his ball and said ‘Fuck it, I’m relocating to Indy.’
I’ll give you that twofer this time, Dutchman.
The thing I’m looking forward to most/am most interested in is the Fox/Sabonis pairing. The small sample size of last year showed it can be very potent offensively, even with a roster full of misfits. This season, with Lamb/Holiday being replaced by Huerter/Monk and Metu/Lyles being replaced by Murray, I think that pairing has the potential to be even better. On the other hand, they were terrible defensively, so am obviously also interested in seeing if they’re really THAT bad.
Looking forward to the return of the down-vote button, just to see if the mass-down-voter is still hanging around in TKH 😀
That’s HIM!
lol
to watching good basketball
I’m excited to watch smart basketball in Kings jerseys. Possibly… maybe… I’m being optimistic. But let me explain my reasoning.
With Domas on the team, we finally have an undisputed #1 who probably has the highest BBIQ on the team. In his short stint with the team last year, I saw clear communication, and smart basketball being played with Domas on the court. He leads by example with his hustle, and I think the team will respond positively around him.
I think Domas will make De’Aaron better, which in turn will make everybody else better. I’ll also add that this roster is pretty new, and doesn’t have any Kangz stank on it.
I am also hopeful that Mike Brown will instill a system that fits his roster, opposed to forcing a system on the roster, which is what we’ve seen with the last few coaches we’ve had in Sac, with no success.
So with that, I’m optimistic and excited to see smarter basketball.
Right now, I am looking forward to the training camp battles. I am curious to see if any of the guys that Coach Brown is familiar with will beat out any of the incumbent players for a roster spot and playing time. Especially Moneke. I think I have heard more than once that Moneke was one of Brown’s first calls when he got the job.
I am also looking forward to see who really buys in to the defensive system. Everyone talks about how great the changes are heading into camp. It will be interesting to see who trusts the process and how many F’s are really given about W’s and L’s.
Speaking of defense, I am looking forward to seeing what the defensive system looks like and whether Barnes can have a bounce back year on that end of the floor.
I am also looking forward to how the rotations work themselves out, and whether it will favor offense or defense.
