With 45.7% of the vote, Mikel Brown Jr. is off the board for the Kings Herald Community Draft Board. He joins Keaton Wagler, Kingston Flemings, Darius Acuff Jr., Darryn Peterson, Caleb Wilson, Cameron Boozer and AJ Dybantsa off the board.
This is the readership’s opportunity to create a democratic draft board which represents the order in which we as a collective would like the Kings’ draft board to look like. It does not represent the desires of individual writers or fans, but some semblance of the community’s collective thinking.
When a choice comes up, pick who you’d want the Kings to pick given all the players remaining. Note: THIS IS NOT A MOCK DRAFT. This is a draft board, a ranked list of prospects you’d like to see the Kings pick. In other words, if we were the Kings front office, when our pick came up, we’d take the top name left on our board. So pick your choice, not who you think Scott Perry or anyone else would choose in a slot.
Explain your choice in the comments, and lobby for who should be added to the next pick’s choices. We’ll be doing this every weekday morning over the next few weeks.

Burries again for me here, spoke on him yesterday so instead I’ll speak on the guys I’d like to next advocate for being on the list.
Labaron Philon definitely seems to be the best non-freshman guard in the draft, and he’s only one year older. He’s also skinny as hell but he put up great numbers on good efficiency in his second year.
Cameron Carr is a guy who stood out to me when looking at his advanced statistics. The guy can rebound, defend, shoot and pass and can probably guard multiple positions. We saw just last night what a guy like that (Josh Hart) can mean to a team at the highest level.
Nate Ament is probably the guy I’d be least excited about drafting because I think he’s the projected lottery pick with the most bust potential, but it’s hard to ignore that he’s an almost 7’0 wing. If he lands in the right spot and is able to develop carefully, he could be special. I just highly doubt that Sacramento could be such a place.
Yeah, Nate Ament give me Kessler Edwards vibes. I’m not quite sure what the appeal is there to warrant a lottery pick when I think there a better dudes mocked in the 20’s
There’s “chatter” amongst nba front offices that trams are higher on Ament than most draft analysts are.
I see the vision of what Ament could be, I just think he is a ways away.
Yax
Burries here. But I can’t wait to start writing in my irrational “I believe in them no matter what” players, including Allen Graves, Cameron Carr, Morez Johnson, and further down the road, Trevon Brazile and Zuby Ejiofor.
Burries. Seems like he will be a solid 2-way player. Always good to have some guys that can do a little bit of everything.
Voted Okorie again. How can I sell this to you guys? Jalen Brunson! Also Kemba Walker. Compare the stats, the measurements, where they were drafted, etc.
I like Okorie. I don’t know that I like him more than Burries, Lexenborg, Philon, Carr or Graves, for example.
Have I mentioned lately that I know nothing?
Adding, my concerns with Okorie (especially this early) is that he has a lousy assist percentage (could be a result of the talent around him), high usage (again, could be impacted by the talent around him), and was a bit of a fright defensively. I see less Brunson and more Malik Monk, which is not a bad thing, but seems like a bit of an overreach given the other potential talent that is still on the board.
(IKN)
Definitely Monk vibes, along with Dennis Schroder. I think that’s why he’s mocked in the 20’s on most boards. Not sure he’ll be an elite starter, but could be a solid role player. I think it’s too high to have him at #9.
Okorie’s inconsistency from three puts me off. If it’s going to be a small guard, I’d rather it be one that can shoot because he gets a lot of his points attacking the rim and getting to the line and I’m not sure he’s going to be able to pull that off at the same rate in the NBA.
you not the only one who is high on Okorie. I have him in a tier that includes Flemings, Burries, and Philon. I would like to do a deep dive on him and watch some full games, but I haven’t because of some of the things mentioned below like low assist rate for a high usage player.
his highlights look really good. Really low turnover rate for a high usage player. Could be like Isaiah Thomas.
I’m on Burries here, followed by Lexenborg.
Ament, Philon, Carr and Graves would be my next adds.
My pick will endure
With Burries for sure!
Picking past 7 has it’s worries
but I’m going with Burries
Going Yax again.
Burries still for me. I’m surprised he’s fallen this far in the eyes of STR. I guess people here prefer a high volume low efficiency score first guy over a rounded high efficiency guy like Burries.
I think the draft starts to drop off a bit after this but there are still some solid players to be had. Mo Johnson, Philon, Mara… Burries is a top 5 guy IMO.
He’s been a riser for me. I now have him ahead of Brown Jr and Acuff on my board. If Wagler is gone by #7 and it’s down to Flemings and Burries, it might be a coin flip for me.
If only for the future Jerryism: “Brayden Burries another one from down town!”
You just sold me. Lol
It’s an important aspect!
“You’d better be careful or Dybantsa will drive right past ya!”
“Darius Acuff with the John Glenn right stuff!”
“Allen put the defense in their Graves with that shot!”
Of course, the Kingston Flemings slogans write themselves. As Rob pointed out, boom or bust, we will have Jerryisms for him.
Mara from downtown! It’s Mara-velous!
He’s my next pick as an impact player.
Burries, then Labaron. Both dudes with really solid stat lines and polished games, just one is a year older than the other.
