Your 0-6 Sacramento Kings travel to the home of the Ewings (JR, not Patrick – ask your parents) to take on the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavs are currently 4-2, while the Kings are…uh, the Kings are still looking for their first…uh, the Kings are currently only three games out of the play-in!
Let’s Kings basketball!
Who: Sacramento Kings (0-6) vs. Dallas Mavericks
Where: American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas
When: 5:00 PM PT / 8:00 PM ET
Watch: NBC Sports California / League Pass / At Your Own Peril
Turn the page, because the Kings are undefeated in November, and undefeated during Daylight Savings Time (yes, the hour will change everything!). The Kings are relying on their first six games of tape lulling the Mavs into a false sense of security, while Dallas has viewed the tapes and are relying on a real sense of security.
Fun fact: The Mavs have a 19-year-old, too! In fact, Cooper Flagg is a full month younger than Darius Acuff. But it appears that Flagg has arrived in his second year, beginning the season with a nifty 26.8 ppg / 6.3 rpg / 6.6 apg line that is supported by an eFG% of 59.7. He has all the appearance of what Kings fans are praying for from Acuff: franchise cornerstone.
Aside from experience, Flagg also has an upper-level partner (Kyrie Irving) and solid contributors in PJ Washington, Daniel Gafford, and Max Christie
And because you’re Kings fans, you deserve a break. So, without further ado, a word from Jerry Reynolds:
“As an NBA fan, I’m looking forward to watching a revamped Mavs team with Kyrie back joining young franchise player (Cooper Flagg) and coaching addition Dusty May. I just hope Kings decide to run offense to Sabonis as well as through him. Side note would love to watch Sharp with Acuff a lot more and start developing Lavine as a 6th man to help this useless bench. Also, hopeful to see Coach Christie stop patting guys on the butt for awful play. Hurting some feelings is OK by me!”
OK, this is where I have to lie to you and make like the Kings have a chance. Read this in Mark or Kayte voice for extra effect. Acuff rocks, Domantas Sabonis rolls, Zach LaVine gets three steals while playing solid defense, and (choose one) Emanuel Sharp / Nique Clifford / Mike Woodson goes nuts from beyond the arc and the Kings pull off the stunner.
Injury update: LaVine is questionable with right elbow inflammation and Dylan Cardwell is questionable.
Prediction: Kings 119, Mavericks 118.

Bold prediction: Zach sits out and the Kings get their 1st win. It will not be coincidence!
If so, then he should remain out…indefinitely. It’s not like playing him is going to keep the Kings out of the bottom 3, so why play him at all?
I would move him to the bench. Play him with Acuff as little as possible.
As a scoring punch off the bench, fine. But nothing else!
Hey, if anything it may make a disgruntled LaVine nag his agent to work on getting him the hell outa Sac ASAP (which I’m sure he’s likely already done).
He had no trade market in Chicago … except for Uncle V!!!!!
Point is, there is not market for him at this price and never will be.
I think there will be a market for his expiring deal, but I imagine most of us wouldn’t like the return.
Lavine to the bench, Monk to the couch.
$70 million in salary this season. Is this seriously what we have to do to win a freaking game?
If so, sign me up.
The Mavs have good reason to brag
As they build around young Cooper Flagg.
They’re on their way back;
They have assets we lack.
With Vivek, Kings fandom’s a drag!
+1 Who thinks well get win #1 tonight!
As someone who remembers him being drafted (Patrick, not JR), this one stung a bit.
I should have said, as someone who remembers BOTH, this one stung a bit.
I was at a Rivercats game when Mike Yastrzemski was playing for them & said, “Hey, Carl’s kid.” I then found out it was his grandkid. My back has ached ever since.
Hopefully Cardwell plays tonight. I just want to watch someone with some fire and shitbird (shout out Jerry) in him.
So much for that ..
Welp.
“… and undefeated during Daylight Savings Time”…
The Kings are actually 0-6 during Daylight Saving (no “s”) time. The good new is, they are in fact undefeated during Standard Time. (This is why I have no friends.)
Heh, yup. Daylight savings time ended technically and we are back on Standard time.
Maybe we should call it Daylight Spending Time?
Over/Under 25 on the shot attempts for Acuff?
Wow, I’m sitting here watching OKC vs Cavs and seeing OKC run a 5 out cut game with Hartenstein at the top of the key is a thing of beauty. Just using the DHO motion with cutters attacking the paint it is tearing up the Cavs…all without SGA.
Another level of coaching and play from compared to our Kings.
No Williams, no Holmgren, no Wallace. And the Kings are nowhere close to their level.
