The Kings got off to an exciting start to the NBA Draft yesterday by selecting Darius Acuff Jr. with the 7th pick and then trading up from 34 to 29 to get UConn’s Alex Karaban, but the draft isn’t finished. The Second Round of the Draft is set to begin at 5:00 PM on ESPN. The Kings still have one more pick left as of now at 45, and we’ll see if they opt to stand pat, move up or down, or trade for perennial fan favorite “Cash Considerations”.
Here are the top prospects left on the board according to the Athletic’s Sam Vecenie’s Top 100 Big Board. I’ve highlighted players that the Kings have confirmed as working out in bold:
Richie Saunders, G, BYU (26th)
Henri Veesar, F/C, North Carolina (29th)
Meleek Thomas, G, Arkansas (31st)
Emanuel Sharp, G, Houston (33rd)
Isaiah Evans, G/F, Duke (35th)
Maliq Brown, F, Duke (36th)
Bruce Thornton, G, Ohio State (37th)
Braden Smith, G, Purdue (38th)
Baba Miller, F, Cincinatti (39th)
Ryan Conwell, G, Louisville (40th)
Jack Kayil, G, Alba Berlin (41st)
Felix Okpara, F/C, Tennessee (42nd)
Izaiyah Nelson, F/C, South Florida (43rd)
Ja’Kobi Gillespie, G, Tennessee (44th)
Jaden Bradley, G, Arizona (45th)
Trevon Brazile, F, Arkansas (46th)
Noam Yaacov, G, Oostende (47th)
Nate Bittle, C, Oregon (48th)
Nick Martinelli, G/F, Northwestern (49th)
Ugonna Onyenso, F/C, Virginia (50th)
Tobias Jensen, G/F, Ratiopharm Ulm (51st)
Dillon Mitchell, G/F, St. John’s (52nd)
Nick Boyd, G, Wisconsin (53rd)
Tyler Bilodeau, F, UCLA (54th)
Tyler Nickel, G/F, Vanderbilt (55th)
Jaden Henley, G/F, Grand Canyon (56th)
Tamin Lipsey, G, Iowa State (57th)
Aaron Nkrumah, G/F, Tennessee State (63rd)
Milos Uzan, G, Houston (66th)
Otega Oweh, F, Kentucky (67th)
Tobi Lawal, F, Virginia Tech (69th)
We’ll be sure to post any news on trades and picks but feel free to discuss the entire second round here.

I am convinced that Adam Silver, Rick Scott and Gollum were separated at birth.
Popeye Jones has a white twin?
Also, Nosferatu.
The professional regurgitator strikes again.
Maliq Brown, Conwell, Sharp, Brazile are the guys i am looking for. I think only Brazile will be there at 45.
I’ll take any of those guys and add Baba Miller and Oweh in there as well.
Brazile, Saunders, and Baba are who I had at #34 and I think they’ll be gone by #45.
If we are swinging for the fences, go with Quadir Copeland.
Brazile will have his name called within the first 3 picks. He should of been the guy to move up to get.
So I guess Boston is still really trying rto move Jaylen Brown. Word from Sports Illustrated (pay wall) is they are hunting for a big and and are willing to move Brown to get it.
Sabonis, Hunter and likely a pick or two or Brown, Hauser, and Gonzalez works (I really like Gonzalez).
I think they either want a rim protector/switchable defender or a stretch 5 type of player.
So who like that would be available? Myles Turner?
I’m not sure about with Boston but I think Turner being available may hurt the Sabonis market.
Maybe Chet Holmgren, but I don’t think OKC needs Brown and I don’t know what the salaries look like. I thought OKC might use Holmgren and their many, many firsts to get Giannis.
Knowing BOS, I don’t think they’d be interested in Domas.
JB for Mobley makes sense for both teams.
Hmmm, it sort of does, but I don’t think the Cavs can afford it. It might come down to what happens with Harden.
I don’t care if they promised Beard a contract, they need to let him walk. That dude is never leading or co-starring a team to a chip. Cut your losses and move on.
That would be nice but I think unlikely. I think the best course right now is to make a good pick at 45 and wait until next years midseason trade deadline and move LaVine. By the end of next season we should have a healthy payroll and some draft capital to move forward. Also we should have a good idea about the future of our young players. This will take time but I like the Acuff pick.
If you want a trade, OKC wants a shooter. How about LaVine for Dort with some salary filler(s) and a second round pick.
IMO, OKC has plenty of guards who can shoot. Isaiah Joe is sitting on their bench shooting 40% from 3 and making just $11M. What they need is wing depth and size, hence the Mara pick.
The Mara pick was in response to the pathetic performance by Chet against SA. They just moved Aaron Wiggins and the pick to move up was to get another shooter. Dort is on an expiring and I think he no longer fits into their plans. I wouldn’t mind Dort in a Sacramento uniform. Nobody puts more effort on the defensive side of the ball than him. Hartenstein also on an expiring which could also explain the Mara pick. I like Mara and a good fit for OKC
The kid Izaiah Nelson out of UCF might be something to look at
My 2nd round/undrafted list:
Keyshawn Hall (arc)
Cade Tyson (arc)
Donovan Atwell (arc)
Oscar Cluff (paint)
Graham Ike (paint)
The Pistons just traded Stewart for three second round picks. I wonder who they’re trying to clear space for a man dream and hope it’s LaVine
