Update: 10 pm
The Sacramento Kings fell to the Boston Celtics Thursday 120-106. Sacramento kept things competitive for three quarters before things fell apart down the stretch and the Kangz showed up. Good for the tank though!
Max Raynaud played 35 minutes and finished with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Keon Ellis played 27 minutes and finished with 16 points. Keegan Murray played 38 minutes but was cold from the field, shooting 3-13 from the field for 7 points, adding 6 rebounds, 4 assists and a block. DeMar DeRozan led the Kings in scoring with 25 points.
Welcome to the 2026 tank!
From Earlier Preview:
NBA records reset after the new year? Right? No? Ok. The tank is good anyway.
Who: Sacramento Kings (8-25) vs. Boston Celtics (20-12)
Where: Golden 1 Center, Sacramento, CA
When: 7:00 PM PT / 10:00 PM ET
Watch: NBCSCA / League Pass
The Kings are starting 2026 at home tonight against a very competent Boston Celtics team. Outside of Jayson Tatum and Chris Boucher, Boston is not only tough, but as healthy as they’ve been all year.
Sacramento is still missing Domantas Sabonis, Zach LaVine, and Dylan Cardwell, at the least. The injury report for tonight isn’t quite finalized yet.
The Kings are also entering tonight one game removed from of the most embarrassing losses of a very embarrassing season: a 41-point blowout against the Clippers.
Keegan Murray returned in that aforementioned Clippers game after missing two games with a calf injury. He didn’t look great, posting 11 points on a very inefficient 4-13 shooting from the field. For the Kings’ sake, hopefully he can get his game back on track tonight.
Prediction: Sacramento’s NYE nightlife prevails, Kings 111, Celtics 110.

Their record this year has surprised us—
Not at all what the writers advised us.
Although Tatum’s distressed,
The Celts have impressed
As Vivek has antagonized us!
+1 Happy New Year!
OK Adamsite. One more because it’s 2026 and IMO going to be a very interesting year. I personally like Darius Garland as our future starting point guard. Would you trade Monk, Ellis, Schroder and Carter and maybe a second or two to get him?
WTF?
Dear Fanbase,
What a wild time we had at the Kings Management party last night. Matina was on the chandelier, Vlade was doing magic tricks and laughing like an imbecile. Scotty P drained two full bottles of Fireball mixed with club soda, and Anjali.. – well come to think of it – she disappeared for most of it, saying some of our players needed help to score. So there must have been a midnight practice that Doug forgot to mention.
Anyway, we have the Celtics of Boston tonight, and as everyone knows, a Leprechaun would obviously be a terrible basketball player. First, they are so small, even most of our team could guard them. Second, everyone knows a Leprechaun never passes. And lastly, their eyesight is bad with their face always scrunched up. But just because we will easily beat these leprechauns does not mean we despise all Irish people. In fact, we love Conor McGregor and wish he would come back and sit court-side with us. We love his temper and drunken high fives that make us feel special. In fact, he has a crown tattooed on his neck, and we believe he got it because he was inspired by all we are doing as a franchise.
We would love for all of you to have prosperous 2026, filled with good laughs, great friends, and mostly, wheelbarrows full of cash to bring to The Golden1 center. We appreciate all of your monetary support over the last decade. Continue to bring it in.
Sincerely,
Management

New year, same slow site. Not sure what happened a couple months ago, but the site is still extremely slow.
It’s absolutely insane that this team doesn’t have a G League player (like Daeqwon Plowden) or other unsigned player to kick the tires on. One of the worst teams in the league, if not the worst, and we have watch DeRozan and Westbrook jack shots. And no Devin Carter…
Site working better for everyone? We have been working on it.
Loading a bit faster for me. And I didn’t have to log in.
This comment uploaded a bit faster (but still slow).
Loads much faster for me. Fingers crossed it stays this way.
Faster for sure!
Not bad 3 quarters. Great 4th quarter tank. Happy 2026! Tank on baby
The only keepers on this team are Ellis and the 2 rooks. I don’t see the Kings going anywhere with Murry as a primary option.
Ellis is gone. There’s no way he’s staying in Sac.
Roll on tank! Did you notice that the Kings competed at a higher level tonight than the last few games? Listen, Kayte did! Let me tell you something, it’s fried chicken!
Westbroke ass jumper what a joke. Keegan just like I’ve said is not worth his contract so far. Playing Keon 25-30 min a night ahould be a no brainer, at least they got that right. I’d rather watch Carter miss shots than Westbrick, pathetic. An unintentional tank will eventually fail because real tanks will do worse, just give up Vivek you suck at this, tank and sell.
It’s so funny to see opponents happily let Russ shoot it from 3, making us think that we are freeing up someone for an open shot.
I hope Keegan is just rusty, but he blew two bunnies at the rim. Annoying.
I’m too lazy (or apathetic) to look it up, but I’m guessing we’ve got the worst points differential in the entire league this season. Just given how much we’re losing by and how little we win by when we get a rare win. If any team is worse, yikes for them.
I’ve always liked Murray as a player – pretty good defensively, pretty good shooter (not great), obviously his length, but also simply the feeling and flashes of untapped potential. The odd coast to coast with a nice finish that would make you think: he’s got so much more to give.
I know he’s struggled with injuries all season and he’s just come back from another minor injury, but I’m concerned the flashes are just…flashes.
In the first quarter of last night’s game, the Celtics put Pritchard on him at first, followed by Simmons, two undersized guards. I was very disappointed to see that he couldn’t manage to take advantage of the size and kilogram mismatch. Especially given the post-up skills he showed in college.
Three clips:
Clip 1:
Murray has Pritchard on him underneath the basket and instead of trying to post him up, he flares out and gets stripped before he gets the shot up. Now, he may have come up to give some space to DeRozan (who usually does not like to pass) and Achiuwa to run a pick and roll, but he’s got such great position, you’d like him to at least try?
Clip 2:
Murray has Simmons on him in transition and tries to post him up. Achiuwa passes the ball quite early, so Murray doesn’t have the best position yet. However, he does have the whole left size of the court available to him. He dribbles twice and tries to back Simmons down (with minimal success), and ends up taking a turnaround fadeaway. Disappointing. Ideally, he’d pass it back to a teammate and fights for better positioning, or does his work before getting the ball.
Clip 3:
Just look where he catches the ball. He’s in pretty good position to post Simmons up, but ends up taking a dribble to an inferior position – and more importantly, takes a pretty difficult shot.
Again, I like Murray as a basketball player and he’s a really valuable asset to this team because of his skillset and length, but he leaves something to be desired at times. Or am I nitpicking?
Sorta nitpicking but not wrong in some ways.
Spacing is shitty on the floor. Guys are just going to their “spots” irrespective of the play.
Look at your example 3 clip. Everyone else is in traffic in the paint. No one for him to kick the ball to except precious out of shot on the baseline BEHIND the 3 pt line across the court.
Which of course he’s open as his man knows there is zero shot of him taking or making a 3.
Or kick it behind him to Russ who just stays directly behind him.
DDR collapses into Kegs zone and brings his man with him with no movement.
Bad choice on Kegs for committing early into traffic. But I think it’s more of a lack of offensive spacing and no cohesive flow to the offense.
Kegs fit well and shot well on the beam team. He’s a flow wing who does well on catch and shoot as well as light penetration that finishes well with one on one challenges at the rim.
He’s not perfect but he’s still a valuable piece to a good to great team. Only issue is this is a horrible team and as usual through all the years of bad teams here we wish guys would be more than they are and elevate others to undeserved god status.
Kegs isn’t as good as he could be just as Sabonis isn’t as great as some think he is.
