Update 10 p.m.

The Detroit Pistons defeated the Sacramento Kings 136-127 Tuesday at the Golden 1 Center. The Kings fought in this game to try to give themselves a chance, but never could quite make it truly competitive in the second half. Detroit killed Sacramento on points in the paint (70-48) and fast break points (27-8).

The big story of the night was Keegan Murray leaving the game with a right calf injury. Here is to hoping Keegan is OK. DeMar DeRozan led the Kings with 37 points and 8 assists. Russell Westbrook finished with 27 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Nique Clifford had 14 points in 25 minutes. Maxime Raynaud finished with 8 points and 8 rebounds in 23 minutes. Precious Achiuwa had 15 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and a block in 27 minutes.

The Kings drop to 7-23 on the season. Merry tankmas to all.

From Earlier Preview:

The Kings are riding high following a 125-124 overtime win against the Houston Rockets Sunday, and they’re back in action tonight.

Who: Sacramento Kings (7-22) vs. Detroit Pistons (23-6)
Where: Golden 1 Center, Sacramento, CA
When: 7:00 PM PT / 10:00 PM ET
Watch: NBCSCA / League Pass

There hasn’t been a lot to celebrate for a Kings fan this holiday season, but watching Maxime Raynaud, Keegan Murray, and to a lesser extent, Nique Clifford, flourish in an overtime win against the Rockets is… something.

I will also say this: regardless of the result, I’ve had more fun watching this team since Raynaud entered the starting lineup, and the youth got more consistent playing time. That trend should continue tonight against the Pistons. Drew Eubanks is out. Zach LaVine is out. Domantas Sabonis is out. That means more Raynaud, more Clifford and (hopefully) Keon Ellis, and more Dylan Cardwell! Should out to Cardwell. Love his energy.

Happy holidays, and much love to the Kings Herald community. Go Kings.

Prediction: Kings 114, Pistons 105.

Max getting a nice mention and a pick as 2nd team all-rookie on the latest Zach Lowe show.

Keegan also mentioned as #2 to Tyrese Maxey in minutes per game this season(but not qualified because of games missed) and as the only rookie to shoot over 40% from 3 on over 6 attempts per game in NBA history. Knueppel is currently averaging 41% on 8.7 attempts a game.

Kings have found another gem in the second round. Hopefully we can flip him for the rights to Alex Oriakhi in the near future. Gotta cash in those chips!

I’m surprised Detroit’s doing so well
Though it’s good to see them excel.
We may not see the Beam,
But Kings fans may still scream,
“Merry Christmas!”, if Vivek will sell!

Happy Festivus to All!

Of course, should the Kings win tonight it might just be a Festivus Miracle!

Recall – it was December 26th one year ago that Sacramento played the Pistons at G1C (I was at that game) and it was the straw that broke Vivek’s back or the lynch pin he was ready to pull, more likely. We saw Sacramento lose to the Pistons as De’Aaron Fox lost track of his assignment, Jaden Ivey, allowing him to shoot a 3 (and thus Detroit tied the score) and fouling the 3 point shooter, having Ivey win the game with his made free throw.

Mike Brown, on his way to the airport for the very next game, was fired on the phone as only Sacramento can do it (no class, no balls was the Michael Malone review of the firing). And this led to the trade to San Antonio of Fox (through his new agent Rich Paul) which led to the Zach Lavine trade, and so on. Doug Christie took the 13-18 Kings to 40-42 (or 27-24 during his tenure). They played host to the Dallas Mavericks for the Play-In and were routed. The dominoes continued to fall as Monte McNair and Wes Wilcox moved on at season’s end.

Could this be another landmark reunion between two teams headed in different directions?

Are there any potential buyers that we know of that wouldn’t try to move the team? Don’t wanna go through another relo drama if it can be avoided.

Dear Fanbase,
Dis you see! Did you see!! Shakas for everyone! We win in overtime with our clutch player scoring baskets, our new starting point guard who comes off the bench hitting big shots, and our rookies helping the cause! We knew the haters were wrong. We can see the caliber of this team! 7-22 obviously does not reflect the level of toughness and professionalism of our players. Light the beam! Light the beam!
We will continue to improve and show the world who we really are. Just imagine when our best players come back to the lineup how amazing it will be. We will light every night with purple skies!
We hope to see you out at the game tonight. The Pistons of Detroit have won many games but it’s not like they are really that good at playing basketball. We will employ some cherry-picking for easy baskets and should have a solid lead by halftime.

Sincerely,
Management

Merry Christmas all! Be safe out there!

Anyone else tuning into the OKC/Spurs game? Have the Spurs already clipped the Thunder’s dynasty wings? They got Prest questioning everything.

I was following the boxscore …impressive. If this is just the beginning (Wemby still limited minutes), SAS may make it too predictable!
