The Sacramento Kings announced on Thursday afternoon that their NBC Sports coverage team for the upcoming season will feature some new faces.

It was previously announced that Kayte Christensen-Hunter will be replacing Doug Christie as the team’s new game analyst next to Mark Jones.

While Kyle Draper will continue to fill in for Jones when he is gone while retaining his hosting duties.

The more surprising news from the announcement is that former Kings Matt Barnes and Kenny Thomas will also be joining coverage on both the pregame and postgame show on the network.

The Sacramento native Barnes had two stints with the Kings during the 2004-05 season and later in his career during the 2016-17 season. Barnes was a pretty outspoken guy when he was in the league and has continued to be so after his playing career. It will be interesting to see whether Barnes is outspoken in this role.

While Thomas played six seasons total with the Kings from 2004 to 2010. After his playing career, Thomas owned and operated the restaurant El Rey, which was across the street. from The Golden 1 Center prior to its closing in early 2019.

Additionally, Morgan Ragan will join the coverage team as well, hosting both the pregame and post-game show alongside Draper. Ragan was previously the Stockton Kings game analyst and has a ton of experience working in the Sacramento media landscape, including as a host at KHTK 1140 and a reporter for ‘Good Day Sacramento’ on CW 31.

The first broadcast featuring some of this crew will be tonight as the Kings face off with the Lakers in the preseason finale.
