The Sacramento Kings win streak came to a crashing halt after two wins. The Philadelphia 76ers ran the Kings out of the building, winning by a final score of 129-105.
The Kings were on the second night of a back to back and looked like it. The 76ers were without MVP candidate Joel Embiid and star point guard Ben Simmons, yet they didn’t seem to miss a beat.
The Kings were led by a huge performance from Buddy Hield, who finished with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. De’Aaron Fox had a lackluster game, finishing with 16 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds. He was held in check by Matisse Thybulle, who guards Fox better than just about anyone else in the NBA.
The 76ers were led by Tobias Harris’ 29 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. Shake Milton had 28 points. Dwight Howard chipped in a double double off the bench.
All in all, this game was just a harsh reminder that despite a couple wins over similarly bad teams, the Kings are still not capable of competing with the league’s elite teams. The Sixers controlled this game from the opening tip and outmatched the Kings in every way.
The Kings have Sunday off before playing the Cavaliers on Monday.
Blow it up.
I really can’t wait to see what Monte’s plan for this team is.
We’ll be lucky if we see Monte’s plan, ever.
Don’t you mean what Vivek’s plan for the team is?
Per Kayte, we were apparently super tired from the back-to-back, and Philly is really talented, even without Embiid and Simmons. At least, she did note that the Kings defense stinks.
The Kings are also having to deal with The Pandemic, unlike all the other teams.
Fans, per Kaye ,do not understand these things that only the Kings must battle !
Kayte is an NBA guru and we’re just morons.
They’re still tired from the India trip!
An oldie but a goodie. ð
My Lady Brave teammate has more basketball knowledge in her baby toenail that you and the 13 simpletons combined who gave you a thumbs up for this idiotic comment. Not only have you never laced them up but I doubt you can bend over and put them on. Put in the basket Chief.
At this point, there isn’t much you can do. No player on the team is bringing a high draft pick or a potentially great young player. Doesn’t make sense to clear salary because there are ZERO unrestricted free agents who can change the trajectory of the team.
And to make matters worse, the teams at the bottom of the West have a much better future with tons of draft picks or tons of great young talent (T-wolves)
Other than that, things are going pretty well
It’s reassuring to know that all of our defensive issues are MBIII’s fault!
They would have lost by 40 if he played.
As someone who does not watch the other bad West teams, what makes the players on the timberwolves actually talented, and why then are they so terrible? Are they just better at tanking? Is their issue just like depth? Are they dealing with injuries?
For one, their two best players in KAT and Russell have each missed have the season. I’d bet they’d be closer to the Kings record had they had those guys like the Kings have had their “stars.”
Deangelo Russell has been out the entire year. A big piece of their core.
It’s hard to tell. Once he returns. They will have a healthy KAT, Edwards and DLo.
Plus another Top5 pick.
once their new coach has all the pieces, it looks like a pretty competitive team.
Edwards has really been the best rookie over the last month.
With KAT losing so many family members due to COVID, you have to wonder if his heart is still in the game.
Horrible what happened to him.
Yeah, sympathize for him. ð
I’ll pick a couple nits here, but not many. LaMelo has been better than Edwards over the past month. Edwards has been scoring a ton, but it’s taking a TON of shots/USG to do it and he’s turning it over as much as he’s assisting. Don’t get me wrong, he’s looking like a good future piece, but his big scoring numbers right now are almost entirely a function of volume. It will be interesting to see where they go next year but it looks like they have a good 4 guard rotation and Towns to build on. Personally, I think Vanderbilt is a useful player and looks like he may be a good fit next to Towns. They really need those vital wing players. Obviously, if they end up keeping their pick, they can go a LONG ways towards solving that issue. But even if they end up with the worst record, there’s still a 60% chance they lose that pick.
Wolves will pass the Kings next year. Book it.
I’m getting on the Scottie Barnes bandwagon, I guess. Hopefully he won’t jump higher than our slotted position should we not win the lottery.
Just Fox and Buddy having good nights would give us a puncher’s chance against over half the teams in the league. Coincide that with the fact that means Holmes is getting fed off of the doubles so he likely dropped 18+. Too good to be bottom feeder bad. Too inconsistent to be an 8th seed and above. Kenny Smith says effort alone will get you 30-35 wins. Which is about what you could expect from this team more often than not. At least we know Scottie Barnes can play defense and distribute. My favorite prospect outside the top 5.
Scottie Barnes, I like that pick more and more.
That was a painful game to watch. Good for the tank, but bad for the soul.
Probably would’ve been better to watch The Philadelphia Story

The Philadelphia story. Nah dog. I’ve never pushed myself to watch that ..
Dog? MEOW!!
LOL Kangz … no Embiid or Simmons … GTF off my TV with this BS.
Or Curry.
That was a massacre.

More like a 76ers firing squad…
Clubber Lang kicked our ass

Luke stated after the game that “for whatever reason” the Kings didn’t bring it tonight. That was basically all he said in addition to saying he thought the Kings had a chance going into the 4th. We need more man! This team is two spots out of last place in the West and he’s acting like nothing is wrong!
He’s an absolute moron. Maybe he needs to watch the tape BEFORE he does his postgame interview. Also, three minutes for Guy, Jeffries, and Woodard in a blowout is just stupid.
Why can’t you just simply appreciate the gorgeous 30 full minutes of play by no other than the veteran mentor Corey Joseph!
Walton uses CoJo more than Mike Bibby used his nail Clippers!
Feel sorry for the fans that still watch the games, must be depressing af.
Hey, just got asked if I was a Kings fan while looking for snacks at the Pasadena Target. It must’ve been one of you, because I was only wearing my white +red/blue retro-colored Kangz TKH hoodie, which doesn’t look like Kings gear. So the person who asked me had to have seen the TKH Kangz clothing line before in order to recognize it.
MISSED CONNECTIONS:
YOU: college-aged blonde kid. Said you were from Oak Park/Sac High
ME: thoroughly bundled up geezer guy wearing Kangz hoodie with basket of chocolate snacks perusing the alcohol aisle.
Kangzlist: Missed Connections. You had a better connection 2 days ago.
I thought they might keep hurting the tank but the Kangz showed up to save the day!
Whatevs
Does it not bother anyone else that we have a 25 y/o that averaged 15 and 6 last year but can’t crack our trash rotation to see what he’s got???
Rave reviews from players in the off season… Nothing
Who are you talking sbout
Jabari Parker
Are you refering to Jabari “they don’t pay players to play defense” Parker?
In that case, no. Doesn’t bother me one bit.
As opposed to the 24 million defensive stalwart in buddy? Or anyone on the roster really.
He’s 25 and a proven scorer, he can’t get minutes on a terrible team that needs to find youth that can play because…. He isn’t good at defense?!?
Why does Bagley play then? Buddy? Cojo? Hell, fox?
He should be getting minutes and it wouldn’t shock me if a playoff team scooped him, gave him 15 a night and he did well.
Monte: “All playoff teams willing to scoop up Jabari Parker, please step forward”
Playoff teams:
I said wouldn’t shock me lol
That other bad players play does not mean that Jabari Parker has to play. The fact that he can’t carve out minutes on a talent starved team with a coach who happily plays veterans like the Kings should give you pause.
I would be shocked if a play-off team would pick him up and give him 15 a night and he would do well.
My point is that I don’t think he can’t carve out minutes on this team because of a lack of talent, it’s Luke being a moron.
Anyone with talent and young should be getting minutes but they aren’t.
I think the only reason Parker hasn’t been cut by the Kings is McNair is hoping he can be apart of some kind of trade package. His only value to the team right now is his expiring deal. If he is not dealt by next Thursday, I fully expect him to be released by the team.
That being said, I think you are right, someone will pick him up, but at the vet’s minimum. No one wants him at his price right now.
A contender like Philly could swap a nobody like ferguson for him so another contender doesn’t get him.
I think it’s just ridiculous a guy like him doesn’t get a shot on this team.
Especially with the reports from camp.
Parker is a net negative. No one is going to sign him to keep other teams from getting him.
Says Carl…We’ll see who is wrong in a few days if he is bought out
Jabari Parker has never done well anywhere. He’s been on five teams in seven seasons, and it will be six teams in eight seasons next year, assuming he’s still even in the league. There’s more to basketball than counting stats.
Nun uh.
He’s had a positive VORP his entire career and he is only 25…I do not understand the argument that he should not be getting minutes on this team
If no major trades made, McNair please enforce the following lineups and minutes (roughly) for the rest of the season when healthy:
Fox 25, guy 10
Hali 25, buddy 20, Jefferies 10, Ramsey 6
Barnes 25, james 16, woodard 15
Bagley 25, parker 15
Holmes 30, metu 18
Take whatever record that provides but get a decent chuck of game experience for the guys to see what they have for next year.
I think Ramsey plays point. Could be a combo guard though.
I do agree that James, Parker, & Metu should get consistent rotation mins.
I only allowed for 35 pg minutes so there are 13 to split between Hali and Ramsey
He’s strictly a SG at this moment. Very light in playmaking skills, IMO.
This. Ramsey isn’t a primary ball handler at this point in his career. On a team trying to win, he doesn’t really have a role right now. He really struggled in the G-League bubble. Which is to be expected for a young late-2nd round pick. Now, for the Kings, sure. Give him some minutes and let him try to figure it out and learn what it’s going to take to contribute in the NBA. Make sure you coach him up anytime he comes back to the bench.
This is a typical habbit of teams playing second game of back-to-back. Not an excuse, however just looking at this as realistically as I possibly can.
There are plenty of other losses I would be more critical about.
I also think that as bad as the team is currently constructed (badly needing more bench depth, starting 5 can use some additional quality), that they can compete with the elite teams on their given day/night, just not consistently. It will most likely take a few more years for Monte to gradually get the team together if he can muster the right pieces / conduct savvy moves.
More time, more promises = ????
Every team in the NBA can compete with the top teams on any given night. The Jazz just lost to the Wizards a few days ago. On the same night, the Wolves beat the #2 team in the West. Every NBA team has the talent to cause problems for any other team when they get hot.
Not gonna lie, I watched the kangz played for 3 mins and decided to ditch it for Grand Canyon University versus Iowa and that was a much entertaining and hopeful game than watching the kangz and I didn’t even know one single player on either one of the team.
ð
This game does not faze me, other than the coach pretending the team had a chance down 30 midway through the 3rd. This was a schedule loss after our big win in BOS, Fox was tired mentally and physically, but that does not stop the perpetual doomers from coming out in force.
Tony on the latest Podcast said the Kings new starters have a Defensive Rtg of 108, which would be around 3rd in the NBA. This has to be placed into proper perspective but it does show the difference swapping out Bagley for Ty, moving Barnes down to 4 and Buddy down to 3 can make from terrible defense to respectable.
The Kings will come out with a big effort tomorrow in CLE and get the win, even with our hideous bench. The doomers wil have to hold their doom for another game!
The real question between now and Thursday is does our GM pull the trigger on Marvin?!?
I hope a team steps up out of desperation and offers us something the GM can accept and justify.
If Marvin add 15 pounds of muscle and turns into a player, which could happen, I am willing to let another team reap those rewards. Even if he does get stronger that will not change the fact that he has bad basketball instincts and lacks the agility to be a multi-dimensional multi-positional player.
This is the most fair-minded and objective assessment I can muster that justifies trading Marvin now.
Bjelica and/or Joseph and/or Whiteside may get moved but that does not mean anything because they are gone by seasons end or sooner anyway.
If Woodward turns into a player (unlikely based on my impressions), our PF spot for the rest of this year and next could be Barnes/Woodward. Then we need to resign Holmes and the way we can free up some cash to boost our offer to Holmes for about 4/60 ($15 million per year) is to trade Bagley for an expiring a prospect and pick.
It takes a bold GM to trade the former #2 pick when his career has been sidelined every step of the way , but that is why he is paid to make these decisions. And if the Dad is unhappy and the son does not refute his opinions, then it is safe to assume the agent has been poking around to see what the trade market may bear. So I say lets move on from Marvin for the benefit of all parties.
You lost me at big effort against Cleveland on Monday and scheduled loss against a team missing 3 starters. Kings didn’t even show up last night.
One thing is guaranteed in the past 15 years of Kings Basketball. The Kings more than any other team in the league…will play down to their competition.
One of the worst franchises in the history or professional sports doesn’t play down to anybody, ever.
Charlotte: Barnes
Kings: Monk, (expiring salary filler), a 2nd
Lol no
I’m high on Monk, I know most aren’t.
I could see him being our BJax 2.0
Even if he were to become BJax, trading Barnes for BJax 2.0 doesn’t do anything to improve this team. And, of course, he’s an RFA. So you don’t even have the advantage of cheap team control. The good news, if you want him, is you can probably get him for a lot less. I can’t imagine the Hornets are going to want to re-sign him and Graham.
Charlotte: Barnes and Holmes
Kings: Monk, (expiring salary filler), First and a Second round pick
Even worse
The Kings are one spot ahead of the Rockets. I’m not saying Loose needs to cry after the game but it’d be cool if he wasn’t so nonchalant.
