Zach Randolph cuts plea deal for community service, no jail time

We’ll now wait to see if he’s punished by the team or the NBA

Zach Randolph has reached a plea deal that will allow him to avoid jail time, and potentially have charges wiped from his record altogether. A report from TMZ reported the specifics of the deal, which includes 150 hours of community service from Randolph.

According to TMZ:

TMZ also reports that as long as Randolph stays out of trouble for 12 months, the resisting arrest charge would also be taken off his record.

It was always unlikely that this case would result in Randolph facing jail time. Now that the issue is settled through the legal system, we’ll wait for the Kings and the NBA to decide what kind of suspension or fines Randolph may face.

My gut instinct remains the same as it has since Z-Bo’s initial arrest, and I’m guessing he’ll face a 5 game suspension. Regardless of what the actual punishment looks like, it’s nice that this black mark on the Kings’ summer is working quickly towards conclusion.
