The Sacramento Kings announced Tuesday that Richaun Holmes will be out another 2-3 weeks with his lingering shoulder injury, which has been identified as a labral tear in his right shoulder joint. Holmes received a platelet-rich plasma injection on Monday, according to the Kings.
Holmes has missed the team’s last 16 games. Previous updates referred to Holmes’ injury as a shoulder joint injury. This is the first that Kings fans have been told it is a labral tear. According to Johns Hopkins Medical Center, “treatment for a labral tear can include restricted rest, physical therapy or surgery, depending on the needs of the individual and severity of the injury.”
Holmes was cleared to return to a full contact practice on February 5th, but experienced soreness after. The following day he participated in about 20% of practice, according to Luke Walton. The Kings said they still thought he might play on February 7th. Now he won’t play for several more weeks.
