Layden is one of the more experienced NBA execs trying out for the gig. He is credited with the Jazz landing John Stockton and Karl Malone in the middle of the first round in back-to-back drafts in the 1980s. He is also credited with accelerating the destruction of the great '90s Knicks teams upon taking over that front office in 1999. (Isiah Thomas finished the job for Layden.)
