The draft is a week away at this point and workouts seem to be wrapping up for most teams. The Kings will be holding another one this Friday with seven players.
The headliner for this workout is Cal’s Ivan Rabb, a player many expected to be a lottery pick last year but who decided to stay in college for his sophomore season. That decision hurt his draft stock, but he’s still solidly projected a first rounder. Rabb is #30 on DraftExpress’ Top 100 rankings.
Joining Rabb will be Arizona’s Kobi Simmons (DX Rank #76), Michigan’s Derrick Walton (DX Rank #73), Cincinnati’s Troy Caupain (DX Unranked), Eastern Washington’s Jacob Wiley (DX Rank #63), Middle Tennessee’s Reggie Upshaw (DX Unranked) and Richmond’s T.J. Cline (DX Unranked). Cline is the son of Kings Assistant Coach Nancy Lieberman. Lieberman spent last season away from the team to care for her mother, and it’s unknown just when she’ll return to the sideline.
This could be the last group workout for the Kings, but they still have some time before players start leaving for New York for the draft next Thursday.
