Kings Waive Frank Mason III

The guard entering his third year is no longer a King.

The Kings announced that third year guard Frank Mason III has been waived.

Mason didn’t play in the California Classic but will still be on the Las Vegas summer league roster and will now have a chance to try to impress another team.

The Kings had four point guards on the roster in De’Aaron Fox, Cory Joseph, Yogi Ferrell and Frank Mason, so it didn’t make sense to enter the season with four point guards.

Mason’s $1,620,564 salary for the upcoming season wasn’t fully guaranteed until October 15th, so the Kings now save that money.

Through his first two seasons, Mason averaged 6.8 points, 1.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists on 39.2 percent shooting and 30 percent from deep.
