With the 2017-18 NBA season right around the corner, the Sacramento Kings announced that they have picked up Head Coach Dave Joerger’s 4th year option, and extended General Manager Vlade Divac’s contract, essentially keeping the current front office and coaching staff in place through 2019-20.
Deuce Mason tweeted out the full press release, which you can find attached below.

Today’s announcement was probably inevitable. Vlade Divac hasn’t had a perfect tenure as Kings General Manager, but you could argue that he is slowly improving, and has done enough to earn a longer look. He also deserves a real chance to build this team after last season’s major decision to trade DeMarcus Cousins and essentially start over.
I’ve praised Dave Joerger since the moment the Kings brought him in, and it’s barely a compliment to call him the best Head Coach the Kings have had since Rick Adelman, but picking up his fourth-year option was a no-brainer.
If nothing else, this gives the Kings some organizational stability moving forward. Both the GM and Head Coach are in lockstep contractually, with the fate of this team in their hands. The Kings will have a presser with both Divac and Joerger later today, so keep an eye out for that.
