Ty Lawson Listed as Day-to-Day after MRI

Kings fans can breathe a sigh of relief as the Kings guard has not suffered a long term injury.

Midway through the second quarter of last night’s victory over the Boston Celtics, Ty Lawson went down with a hamstring injury. The Kings backup point guard grabbed the back of his leg and immediately limped to the locker room after an awkward step. He was diagnosed with a strained hamstring, did not return to the game, and an MRI was scheduled for today.

The MRI has been completed and he’s been diagnosed with a mild strain of the left Adductor Magnus (which sounds like it should be a spell from Harry Potter) and is listed as day-to-day. His play-making and scoring are much needed on a squad already without Garrett Temple, Rudy Gay, and Omri Casspi ( who is set to make his return on Friday after a 13 game absence.).

If Ty does miss any time, expect Darren Collison to log heavy minutes and for Matt Barnes to play backup point guard for 8-10 minutes per game as the Kings don’t have an open roster spot to sign an emergency ball-handler.
