The Sacramento Kings plan to sign Small Forward Troy Williams to a two-way contract once he clears waivers, according to Michael Scotto of The Athletic:

Forward Troy Williams is planning to sign a two-way deal with the Sacramento Kings, league sources told The Athletic. Williams was waived by the Pelicans and still needs to clear waivers.

Williams played college ball for the Indiana Hoosiers, averaging 13 points and 6 boards in his junior season, but his inability to combine his athleticism with reliable basketball skills saw him fall out of favor with NBA teams, and he went undrafted as a result. In the post-draft world, the 23-year old has bounced between several G League and NBA teams, including the Iowa Energy, Memphis Grizzlies, and Houston Rockets during the 2016-2017 season, as well as the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, a second stint with the Houston Rockets, and most recently with the New York Knicks in the 2017-2018 campaign. Williams averaged 7.5 points, 3.5 boards, and 0.9 assists, while shooting 49% from the floor and 33% from three-point range in 17 minutes per game for the Knicks in the latter part of last season.

Troy Williams fits a need for the Sacramento Kings, as the hole at the three-spot was recently mentioned by Vlade Divac, and he’ll join Wenyen Gabriel as a fringe player who might find some spot minutes at wing for a team lacking a quality small forward.
