The Sacramento Kings are adding some help before the NBA’s planned return to play in Orlando. The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports that free agent forward Corey Brewer will sign with the Kings during the NBA’s transaction window.

This will be Brewer’s second stint with Sacramento. He last played for the Kings in 2018-19, appearing in 24 games. Brewer averaged 4.1 points on 44.6% shooting from the field, including 33.3% shooting from behind the arc during that span.

Brewer is a 17-year veteran who made a career out of his defensive abilities. The 34-year-old had a net rating of +11 during his last stop with the Kings, per Basketball Reference. The Kings were also 2.9 points better on the defensive end per 100 possessions with Brewer on the floor last season, per Cleaning the Glass.

Sacramento signed him to back-to-back 10-day contracts in February of 2018, before committing to him for the rest of the season.

Brewer gives head coach Luke Walton another option on the wing, though he will be behind Harrison Barnes, Bogdan Bogdanovic, and Buddy Hield on the depth chart.

Players are reporting back to their home markets for coronavirus testing, with teams planning beginning training camp on June 30.
