Bogdan Bogdanovic will reportedly pursue other options in free agency, Bucks deal is ‘off the table’

Ah, well nevertheless.

The sign-and-trade that the Sacramento Kings and Milwaukee Bucks agreed to on Monday is off, or at least that’s what all of the latest reports suggest. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Bogdan Bogdanovic — the centerpiece of that trade — will enter restricted free agency on Friday and entertain other offers.

If that wasn’t convincing enough, Sam Amick, who first reported that the deal was “in peril” has gone so far as to say the deal is “off the table.”

Now, it’s still entirely possible that this is still some elaborate scheme to avoid a tampering fine, but it’s becoming increasingly likely that the Kings simply just didn’t do a good job of communicating with Bogdanovic and his camp during their talks with the Bucks. If that’s the case, Monte McNair will go into his first season as the Kings general manager with a blemish on his record. For a team that dealt with plenty of that from Vlade Divac, the team’s former vice president of basketball operations and general manager, that’s not ideal.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
