Richaun Holmes out at least 2-3 weeks

The injury woes continue for the Kings.

On Sunday afternoon, another disappointing injury announcement was made amidst a season full of disappointing injury announcements. According to James Ham of NBCS, Richaun Holmes will miss at least 2-3 weeks of time after sustaining a shoulder injury in a game against the Warriors on January 6th.

This news is especially devastating for Sacramento’s playoff hopes, as Richaun has not only been the most consistently productive rim-runner and paint protector for the Kings, but he’s evolved into their most reliable force on a night-to-night basis, as he ranks first in total rebounds, steals, and blocks, and third in total points. The only bit of good news is that sophomore stud Marvin Bagley III should be ready to return to the lineup on Monday evening, providing some much-needed depth to Luke Walton’s big man rotation. The injury may also affect Dewayne Dedmon’s trade request, as the Kings will need his rim protection and rebounding prowess with Holmes out for the foreseeable future.

We’ll keep you updates as further announcements are made.
