The San Diego Chargers officially announced their move to Los Angeles on Thursday. It’s a confusing move, taking the team to an LA market that just got a new football team last season, and a market that doesn’t seem to particularly care for having an NFL team.
It’s reminiscent of a time when the Maloofs tried to move the Sacramento Kings to Anaheim, and then trying to sell the team to move it to Seattle a few years later. We’ve returned to a sense of normalcy with the Kings. We argue about the direction of the team, the rotations, contract extensions, and all the other usual minutia. On days like this, though, I can’t help but appreciate just how incredible it is that we still have a team. Teams move, often.
Franchise moves, last 40 years: MLB 1, NBA 7, NHL 7, NFL 9.

Teams rarely stay. But here we stayed.
