We fight now, and we fight later

We will not stop fighting until the Kings are in Sacramento permanently.

It's a weird thing, to hear everyone state — not pose, guess or figure, but state — that if the Kings leave the city of Sacramento will never ever ever get an NBA team or pro sports back here again. You been paying attention? Sacramento lost its team to Anaheim in 2011, remember? Oh wait …

I understand that things are different. The NBA opposed that move. The NBA probably does not oppose this one. But we've shown our colors. All of the fan groups. The Mayor. Our columnists. We've shown our colors and our wills. We haven't given up, not once. I don't intend to now. Do you? That's what the rest of the world expects us to do. The rest of the world expected us to give up in 2011, too. Learn from history lest you be doomed to repeat it. Sacramento doesn't give up.

I don't want to start a flame war or anything, but let's be frank: most of Seattle gave up back in 2006, 2007 and 2008. There was a powerfully vocal small group of fans who didn't, led by Brian Robinson. A commendable small group of folks who refused to give up. But City Hall? They gave up. The business community? Gave up. Most of the fans? Gave up. The local freaking owner? Totally gave up for a profit. (Can you imagine what would happen if Schultz did to Sacramento what he did to Seattle? Oh my Heavens.)

Rational thinking might tell us to give up, but we're not built to listen to that part of our brain. Rational thinking tells us that Sacramento will never ever be a major league city again if the Kings leave, but, with all due respect to rational thinking, fuck that noise.

If Sacramento gets a real chance to keep the Kings, we're going to do everything we can to make that a reality. If the Kings leave, we're going to do everything we can to get an expansion team here. We're not stopping until we win. We can't. We can't.
