When the Kings announced today’s ninth pre-draft workout, a familiar name appeared in Kansas guard Frank Mason. Mason is the first player that the Kings have invited back for a second workout (aside from Eric Mika, who likely won’t be drafted).
Joining Mason in the group workout on Wednesday will be Kentucky’s Isaiah Briscoe, UCLA’s Isaac Hamilton, Florida’s Canyon Barry (yes, there is somehow another Barry brother and yes, he shoots his free throws underhanded like his dad), Indiana’s Thomas Bryant, and Miami’s Kamari Murphy.
Thomas Bryant is perhaps the most notable name aside from Mason. Both he and Mason have a decent shot of getting drafted in the early-to-mid second round. Bryant is one of the few centers in the draft to actually spend some time beyond the arc, and he made them at a fairly good clip of 38.3% which is pretty impressive considering it wasn’t a part of his game at all during his freshman season.
The Kings have been getting a lot more higher profile workouts this season, but it’s still nice to see they’re doing their due diligence on talent in the later part of the draft as well.
