Kings plan to continue to use four-bigs lineup

Skal Labissiere is a shooting guard, positions mean nothing, let’s get weird.

For a few brief, glorious minutes in Monday’s preseason opener against the Phoenix Suns, the Sacramento Kings rolled out a lineup of Willie Cauley-Stein, Harry Giles, Marvin Bagley III, Skal Labissiere, and Frank Mason III. It was baffling, but it didn’t last long. It could be chalked up to preseason experimentation, or just a lack of bodies. The Kings were missing Bogdan Bogdanovic, Nemanja Bjelica, Kosta Koufos, and Iman Shumpert.

But on Tuesday Kings head coach Dave Joerger made some remarks in an interview with KHTK that suggests this may not have been a one-time fluke. Via the Sacramento Bee’s new Kings beat reporter, Jason Anderson:

Without attempting to make a mountain out of a molehill, it’s easy to read this quote and see it as Joerger sending a message to the front office. That may not be what Joerger was trying to do, but it definitely reads that way. “It’s how we’re made.” Yikes.

Personally, if the Kings are going to be bad, I at least want them to be entertaining. It may not be good, but I’m going to be entertained watching Joerger roll out Skal as the shooting guard. Let’s get weird.
