When the NBA season eventually resumes, the hope is that the Sacramento Kings will be able to play the 18 remaining games on their regular season schedule and make a run for the No. 8 seed. However, as things stand right now, the Kings will send a representative to the 2020 NBA Draft Lottery for the *13th time in 14 years.

The NBA Draft Lottery was scheduled for Tuesday, May 19, but due to the indefinite suspension of the season, the league has postponed both the lottery and the combine. Here is the full statement that was released by the NBA on Friday:

The Kings are currently tied with the New Orleans Pelicans for the 12th-best odds (1.3%) to win the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. If things stay the same, there will be a coin toss to determine who wins the tiebreaker.

The draft is pretty top heavy when it comes to potential star players this year, so the Kings will be hoping to break into the top-five, but they could use another young wing like RJ Hampton round out their depth. They could also use the pick to make a win-now trade, although they might want to wait and see what their core looks like at full strength before doing that.

Either way, we won’t know where the Kings will be picking for a little while longer, whether they’ll be at the lottery or not.
