The Kings are reportedly signing Louis King to a two-way contract

This completes the Sacramento roster.

With Chimezie Metu promoted to the full-time NBA roster, the Kings had an extra two-way spot available on the roster.

Per reporting from Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Sacramento has now filled that vacancy. The team will be signing Louis King, a wing who has spent the last two seasons in the G League after going undrafted in 2019 out of Oregon. King’s NBA experience includes 10 games (62 total minutes) with the Detroit Pistons in 2019-20.

King averaged 15.0 points and 5.4 rebounds per game with the Grand Rapids Drive in 2019-20 while shooting 46.1 percent on twos and 33.6 on threes. His free-throw shooting, combined with strong shooting numbers in college, suggested he could do better, and King improved in the 2021 G League bubble. Playing for the Westchester Knicks this season, King’s scoring went down a little to 13.7 points per game, but he was markedly more efficient by converting 55.7 percent of his 2-pointers and 45.6 percent of his 3-pointers.

This is an interesting flier for the Kings to take because King plays a position of need not just around the league, but on the Sacramento roster. After going after two young bigs in Metu and Damian Jones, it’s good to see the Kings also attempt to address their wing shortage with a player who is only 22 years old. By signing King to a two-way, Sacramento has his G League rights and can re-sign King as a restricted free agent in the offseason. It will be interesting to see how much run King gets in the final 10 games of the year.
