Could the Kings pursue Milos Teodosic?

He’s a popular name amongst Kings fans

The Sacramento Kings have a huge hole at the point guard position. The best professional basketball player not in the NBA plays point guard. As such, it’s only natural that Kings fans have started lusting after Milos Teodosic of CSKA Moscow. And in many ways, it makes sense. Teodosic plays for the Serbian national team with Bogdan Bogdanovic, who the Kings are expected to bring over this summer. Kings GM Vlade Divac oversaw the Serbian Olympic Committee prior to joining Sacramento’s front office. On paper, it makes a lot of sense.

Unfortunately, there’s not much else to indicate the two parties will come together this summer. Teodosic has been primarily linked to the Brooklyn Nets. Brooklyn GM Sean Marks has traveled to Russia multiple times this season to meet with Milos, and Brooklyn has plenty of money to spend.

Teodosic is also currently playing for CSKA Moscow, which was previously owned by current Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov. Prokhorov still lives in Moscow.

And while Teodosic has talked about possible jumping to the NBA, he still has yet to commit to anything. He could stay in Moscow, as his current club is extremely successful, and will happily pay him big money to stay.

Teodosic has also been linked to the Denver Nuggets. Teodosic is friends with Nikola Jokic, and the Nuggets have a strong history of bringing over international players are setting them up for success. The Nuggets are also closer to becoming a playoff team, which will likely be a factor when the 30-year-old Milos decides his future.

The Memphis Grizzlies tried to bring Teodosic over to the NBA a few years ago, and there’s been rumors connecting him to the Utah Jazz and Quin Snyder in the past as well.

So while there’s plenty of reason to see connections between the Kings and Teodosic, there hasn’t been so much as a whisper that the two parties have discussed anything, or that there’s any mutual interest. Anything could happen, but it doesn’t seem like Teodosic will be the answer for the Kings point guard position.
