The Sacramento Kings unloaded a 39-point scoring outburst in the third quarter of Mondqay’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers. DeMarcus Cousins led the charge for a shorthanded Kings squad, and secured a 116-92 victory.
The game got off to a rocky start, with Cousins drawing a very suspect foul call against Julius Randle, which led to Lakers coach Luke Walton arguing with the refs and getting ejected. The refs were quick with the whistle all night, handing out several more techs to various Lakers players and coaches. Boogie also picked up a technical foul, his ninth of the year.
Cousins finished with 31 points on 21 shots, to go with 16 rebounds. The Lakers simply had no answer for Boogie once he got rolling. Darren Collison added 20 points as well. Matt Barnes was held out of the game for rest, and both Rudy Gay and Ben McLemore left the game with injuries. As a result, both Omri Casspi and Garrett Temple saw extended minutes. Temple shined with 16 points, and Casspi chipped in 13. Both looked really good on the floor, and it’ll be tough to justify limiting their minutes going forward.
