Kings interested in Russian Guard Dmitry Kulagin

According to Yahoo!'s Marc Spears, the Kings are potentially interested in bringing over Russian Guard Dmitry Kulagin.

Kulagin, a member of Zenit Saint Petersburg, is 22 years old and went undrafted in this past June's draft. In his last year he averaged 7.3 points per game on 41.6% from the field to go along with 2.7 points and 2.4 assists in 22.3 minutes a game.

Signing Kulagin would likely be more than just a training camp invite as he is subject to a buyout from his current team and he likely wouldn't come over to the NBA unless he was guaranteed a job. One reason the Kings could be interested is that Kulagin is a 6'6 Point Guard, although his assist numbers aren't exactly gaudy. He also isn't a particularly good outside shooter, shooting a career-high 29.7% from the shorter FIBA 3-point line last year.

Sacramento's roster is currently well above the 15 player maximum, although guys like Sim Bhullar and Deonte Burton are probably only there for training camp. The Kings have also yet to formally waive Jeremy Tyler or Wayne Ellington, acquired from the New York Knicks in a trade for Travis Outlaw and Quincy Acy. The Kings can waive Tyler for free up until September 15th, at which point his contract becomes $100,000 guaranteed. Sacramento also has until August 31st to use the stretch provision on Ellington.

    UPDATE 7:18 PM:

This tweet from July 1st seems to indicate that the Kings have had their eye on Kulagin for a while, and even invited him to play on their Summer League roster.
