In a bit of a twist on the usual prospect workouts held around this time of the year, the Kings actually held a free agent mini-camp today featuring some fringe NBA players.
Kings held a FA mini-camp today: Jack Cooley, Bryce Cotton, Ben Bentil, Perry Ellis, Alonzo Gee, Chris Johnson, Phil Pressey, JaKarr Sampson

Of the players the Kings worked out, only Alonzo Gee has any significant NBA experience although all of these players have been rostered or played for NBA teams at one time or another in recent years. Gee, if you’ll recall, was actually a member of the Kings for a short while when they traded Jason Terry to Houston. Gee was waived by Sacramento soon after.
None of these names really jump out at first glance, and the Kings are likely just doing due diligence. After all, training camps allow for the team to have 20 players rather than the max 15. It’s unlikely the Kings will find a diamond in the rough out of this group or similar groups, but looking can’t hurt. A lot of work needs to be done to make this team competitive again, and every avenue needs to be explored.
