Dallas 99 – Sacramento 79: Mavericks Trample the Kings

DeMarcus Cousins’ big game means little in the Mavericks romp over the Kings.

After a thorough dismantling of the same Dallas squad a little over a week ago, the Kings got a taste of their own medicine in a blowout loss to the Mavericks.

With Rudy Gay still out with injury and Omri Casspi unable to make a go of it due to illness, Sacramento started a three guard lineup consisting of Darren Collison, Ben McLemore, Garrett Temple, DeMarcus Cousins, and Kosta Koufos. Starting one point guard, two shooting guards, and two centers went about as well as expected. Collison and Temple both had their worst games of the year as they combined for 7 points on 2/18 shooting and 1/11 from three point range.

DeMarcus Cousins led the Kings in scoring with 33 on 24 shots, but most of that production came in the first half when he scored 23 of the Kings 44 points. Outside of Boogie, Ty Lawson was the only other player in double figures scoring 10 points (4/9 FG).

The Mavericks won the game using a balanced effort as six different players scored in double figures. Unlike the Kings starting duo, Deron Williams and Wes Matthews had solid games as they led their team with a combined 30 points on 11/24 shooting. Former Sacramento fan-crush Seth Curry had a nice game with 13 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.
