Sacramento Kings Arena Saga: And Now For Another Hairpin Turn

By | 0 Comments | Feb 19, 2019

That one party seems to be willfully trying to throw it into that wall makes it all the more dangerous, terrifying and exhausting.

But here we are, depending on some combination of reason and power to deliver us another victory. The Maloofs will tell the other NBA owners this afternoon that they never agreed to any of these details that are proving problematic. They will accuse the city of being a bad partner, and they'll probably present this letter from the business leaders calling for their ouster as proof. They'll try to get out of their commitment.

The question is whether David Stern will let them. I ran through the situation and the NBA's options and limitations in a piece at SBNation.com this morning. It's a lot less cut and dry than we'd all hope, though I get a sense that most of us are more cautiously optimistic than unreasonably expectant. We'll know soon enough, though possibly not until Friday, which way this is headed, even if we don't have final resolution for another week.

Use this as an open thread for any reports out of New York.
