Report: Knicks Offering Mario Hezonja Portion of One-Year Mid-Level Exception

If the Kings want Hezonja, they may need to offer a multi-year deal.

Orlando Magic unrestricted free agent Mario Hezonja has a offer from the New York Knicks for a portion of the $8.6 million midlevel exception, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post.

Knicks general manager Scott Perry was an assistant general manager in Orlando when the Magic drafted Hezonja fifth overall in the 2015 draft.

The Sacramento Kings have had reported interest in Hezonja since the trade deadline in February. If the Sacramento front office wants to secure Hezonja—who could fill their need for a stretch combo-forward—offering a multi-year deal would seemingly beat the Knicks deal.

The Magic declined Hezonja’s fourth year rookie-contract option last October. Orlando can only offer him a one-year, $5.2 million dollar offer he would have received had they accepted his option.
