The Kings announced today that Peja Stojakovic, currently Vice President of Basketball & Team Development, is being promoted to Assistant General Manager. This expanded role will encompass the areas that Stojakovic was already working in, namely player development and oversight of Sacramento’s G-League team, the Stockton Kings.
Stojakovic joins Brandon Williams and Ken Catanella as Assistant General Manager, but each person plays a different role in the organization. This promotion likely won’t be the source of much change in the front office.
Stojakovic has been with the Kings’ front office since 2015 when the Kings named Vlade Divac their General Manager following Pete D’Alessandro’s departure. Stojakovic, Divac and the rest of the Kings front office is heading into a critical year ahead. The Kings currently own the league’s longest playoff drought, and also don’t have a first round pick next season. Major improvement will be needed in the next year or we could see some big changes coming.
