The Sacramento Kings entered free agency with more cap space than any team in the NBA. The concern for Kings fans was whether the team would use that space responsibly, or if they would throw ungodly anounts of money at aging players on long contracts. So far, so good. The Kings haven’t made any big signings thus far, which means they haven’t made any big mistakes. And with Andre Iguodala returning to the Warriors, we got a glimpse into their process.
Andre Iguodal's deal is three years, $48 million, I'm told. Huge win for the Warriors. Rockets, others wanted to hurt them with this one.

The Kings' offer for Andre Iguodala, I'm told, was for 2 years at a similar annual rate as Warriors three-year, $48 million deal.

First off, I think it says something about the improving reputation of the Kings that they even got in the room with Iguodala. It may have simply been for leverage, but I doubt the Kings even get a meeting last summer.
Second, it’s fantastic that the Kings weren’t trying to overpay or give too long of a contract. If the Kings had landed Iguodala at 2 year for $15-16 million per year I would have been thrilled with the contract.
The Kings are trying to land vets, but they aren’t being reckless. That’s everything we can hope for. There’s still time for the Kings to prove me wrong, but right now I’m happy with how the Kings are approaching free agency.
