Shortly after the Sacramento Kings signed Vince Carter to a 1-year, $8 million deal Thursday afternoon, both Marc Spears of ESPN’s Undefeated, and Sam Amick of USA Today reported that the Kings are done wheeling and dealing this summer, barring an unexpected trade.
Kings now have 15 players on their roster and don't plan on making any other roster moves unless there is an unexpected trade, sources said.

And with that Kings fans, I'm told the free agency frenzy in Sacramento has likely come to an end. What's the grade for draft/free agency?

Post-Vince Carter signing, the Kings have roughly $15,855,827 million in cap space remaining, according to spotrac. This doesn’t include the inevitable signing of De’Aaron Fox and Frank Mason III. After Fox and Mason officially sign their deals, the Kings will likely reach the salary cap floor of $89,183,700 million, leaving them with around $10 million of cap room to play with this summer, or during the season. The Kings are done in free agency, though. That’s the point here. This is the roster. For now.
One would presume the depth chart will look something like this:
PG: George Hill / De’Aaron Fox / Frank Mason III
SG: Buddy Hield / Bogdan Bogdanovic
SF: Garrett Temple / Vince Carter / Malachi Richardson / Justin Jackson
PF: Skal Labissiere / Zach Randolph / Harry Giles
C: Willie Cauley-Stein / Kosta Koufos / Georgios Papagiannis
There is obviously a lot of wiggle room and versatility there. In fact, outside of probably point guard, there will be open positional battles across the board throughout training camp. It’ll be fascinating to see what the Kings do at small forward, as UNC rookie Justin Jackson is the only ‘pure’ SF on the roster, but with how the NBA is played in 2017, and for a team like the Kings that is more interested in player development than wins and losses, they should be OK with what they’ve got. Not ideal, but OK.
As someone who has been very critical of the Kings’ moves in the past, I’m pretty happy about how this offseason has played out, all things considered. I don’t think the Kings will be very good in 2017-18, but I’m going to enjoy watching this team play. What say you?
