Sacramento Lands the 7th Pick in the 2013 NBA Draft

The NBA Draft Lottery was held today and Sacramento dropped for the fourth time in five years.

Another year, the same old bad luck at the NBA Draft Lottery.

The Sacramento Kings dropped one spot to the 7th slot, which had a 30.5% chance of occurring. They were leapfrogged by the Washington Wizards, who jumped all the way from 8th to 3rd. Orlando won the 2nd pick and Cleveland brought home yet another #1 pick, their 3rd in the last decade and 2nd in the last three years.

While this draft is not widely regarded as a particularly strong one, it seems very unlikely that top prospects like Victor Oladipo or Otto Porter, both favorites among Kings fans, will fall to the 7th pick. Things can definitely change between now and the NBA Draft, which will take place on June 27th.

This marks the fourth time in the last five years that the Kings have fallen in the lottery. Sacramento has never moved up. The last time the Kings finished with the 7th pick was 2011, which ended up becoming the 10th pick and John Salmons. Hopefully we get a better return this time.
