Marvin Bagley to miss the rest of Vegas Summer League

An MRI revealed Bagley has sustained a pelvic bone bruise.

Marvin Bagley III left Saturday’s game against the Phoenix Suns in the second half with what was initially called a “hip flexor tweak” after which an MRI was ordered with Bagley being held out of Sunday’s game as a precaution. The MRI has come back and it has been revealed that Bagley sustained a pelvic bone bruise, and the Kings have elected to hold him out for the rest of Las Vegas Summer League.

This is unfortunate news for those that wanted to see Bagley play some more, but thanks to the California Classic he already got 4 games under his belt, which is a typical summer league schedule. The Kings have no reason to rush their 2nd overall pick back into action, especially in meaningless scrimmage games.

That means we’ve seen the last of Bagley until preseason starts in September. With Bagley gone, that means there will be more opportunity for Harry Giles to show out, as he’s been having a strong summer debut. Undrafted players like Zach Auguste will also have extra opportunity now and could make a case for a two-way contract.

The Kings continue Summer League action tomorrow against Jaren Jacckson Jr. and the Memphis Grizzlies at 3:30 P.M. on ESPN 2.
