Manu Ginobili of the San Antonio Spurs has announced that he’s retiring, which concludes a Hall of Fame career (this is not up for debate, he will absolutely be in the Hall of Fame). The internet will be full of glowing tributes to Manu, and they’ll all be well-deserved. But as a Sacramento Kings fan there’s one distinct memory that always stands out when I think about Ginobili.
On Halloween night 2009 a Kings/Spurs game was interrupted by a live bat in the building. Manu slapped the bat out of the air with his bare hand, picked up it up and handed it off to a Spurs staffer.
