The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors will take up a measure on Tuesday morning that would help fund a downtown entertainment and sports complex. Penned by Phil Serna, a county supervisor and the son of the late, great Joe Serna, the measure would commit an estimated $3.5 million in annual county revenues raised by the development of the railyards to the project. We've let the Sacramento City Council know how we feel about the project a number of times, and we'll do so again leading up to March 6. That's been a huge success — folks at City Hall have told us how important our outreach, via letters and in person, has been.

But the county supervisors ought to hear from us, too. Let's fill their inboxes with positive messages about Serna's plan and the need for a downtown facility that can help lead Sacramento into the future … for the good of all.

Dear Supervisor,I believe in the economic and cultural potential of a new entertainment and sports complex for the region, and think the County has a responsibility to do its part in making sure this project comes to fruition, especially as the momentum rebuilds to remake downtown with Monday's announced deal.

I support the recommendation to adopt the Resolution supporting financial contributions towards the ESC and County Regional Parks.
